I've taught students of music for over eighteen years. All the while, I've also been playing gigs, leading bands, jamming with friends, and traveling the world to attend masterclasses and participate in competitions. In all this time, I've certainly learned a few things that can help you along your journey.
I do not limit myself by genre or instrument. Guitar and singing are my main instruments, but I also teach piano/keyboard, drums, and bass guitar; as well as music theory and composition. Note that I do not own a drum set and would need to come to you for a lesson.
SUBJECTS OF STUDY:
-Proper Technique--learn to play fast and effortless and stop pain! There are many energy-saving tricks I can show you to speed up your progress! I can teach the classical style of technique, electric shred, and everything in between.
-Music theory--What the hell is C major? What about Cm9+11? Matching chords with melodies, creating interesting rhythms, analysis of music and help with University-level coursework, jazz theory.
-Improvisation--learn to play off the top of your head and use your ears! Speak through your instrument effortlessly.
-Performance tips--Stop being shy on stage! Interact with the audience to bring them in! Exposure therapy can also work wonders on stage fright. ie: perform for me and your friends more often! There is a great difference between practicing your musical skills and practicing how to perform. Recording is another beast altogether...
-History/Background knowledge of music--Understand the way your own musical experience relates to the interconnected world of music!
