Join Central Market Cooking School Houston for a hands-on baking workshop exploring popular flatbreads from different parts of the world. Participants will learn the techniques, textures, ingredients, and cooking methods that make each flatbread unique.
During this three-hour class, attendees will work in small groups to prepare Italian focaccia, Indian naan, Mexican flour tortillas, and Chinese scallion pancakes. The session covers yeast-based dough preparation, kneading techniques, lamination, shaping, and cooking methods.
Participants will discover how yeast works as a leavening agent in focaccia and naan, learn how different kneading methods affect dough texture, explore lamination techniques for scallion pancakes, and make flour tortillas from scratch.
