About this Event
The food industry is responsible for a large portion of land usage, water and air pollution – around 40% of greenhouse gas emissions and 80% of deforestation globally. Sustainable agriculture and food systems aim to produce food in a way that protects environmental health and soil fertility.

Speaker: Shiela Bernardo
Shiela Bernardo is the founder and executive director of Ascend Garden, a social enterprise and urban homestead garden that promotes food security through sustainable urban farming methods. As VP for global operations at Bank of America, she is a seasoned strategy and analytics leader, applying technical expertise for data proficiency building programs, process automation, and dashboard visualization. She is an alumnus of UT Dallas where she completed a Global Leadership Executive MBA.
