Millet Cook-Off | Taste of India – Harvest Festival - Houston, TX

This vibrant community event invites home chefs, food lovers, and cultural enthusiasts to come together for a unique culinary and cultural experience centered around millets, one of India’s most nutritious and sustainable grains.

Participants can choose to:

  • Compete in the Millet Cook-Off, where creative millet-based dishes will be judged by renowned executive chefs, or
  • Participate in the Taste of India – Harvest Festival Showcase, a non-competitive cultural celebration of traditional harvest dishes from across India.

The Harvest Festival Showcase is a beautiful expression of India’s diversity, where participants can bring traditional dishes prepared for festivals such as Pongal, Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Bihu, and many other regional harvest celebrations. These dishes are not judged and are meant purely to celebrate culture, tradition, and community.

Beyond food, the event highlights AID’s mission to promote sustainable farming, farmer resilience, local livelihoods, and nutrition security. By encouraging millet-based cooking, the festival raises awareness about healthy eating and environmentally responsible agriculture.
