The Sikh Foundation of Virginia, established in 1978, was founded to serve the growing Sikh community in Northern Virginia, who previously had to travel to Washington, DC, or Maryland for access to Gurdwaras. A group of about a dozen like-minded Punjabi families came together to address the need for a local Gurdwara to meet the religious, cultural, and social needs of their community. Today, the Sikh Foundation of Virginia continues to offer a welcoming space for worship, prayer, and community involvement, promoting Sikh values, cultural heritage, and a strong sense of unity in the region.
