RAHU KETU sign changes/transitions do not have as much and as direct an impact as SHANI GURU and rest of the planets as per their “ministries” or departments or governance in your chart/life. However, they do have significant impact with genetics and DNA or simply family history and family karma. Before jumping into RAHU KETU transition on SEPT-19-2020 (19:58PM India time) & its impact on various planets – let us look at that they stand for – some random thoughts if you will! :) SEPT-19-2020 (19:58PM India time) to MARCH-17-2022 05:46AM (18 months approx.).

RAHU represents following 3 things predominantly for any person.

Paternal Grandfather or Paternal grandmother and their family.
Insatiable desires, Deep desires, extreme ambitions, agitation, irritation and dark mysticism forces
People of different caste culture religion language etc.

Good or bad luck with these things depends on the birth-time RAHU position and overall “strength” of Rahu and its owner-depositor.)

Similarly, KETU represents following 3 things

Maternal grandfather or grandmother and their family.
Spirituality, Detachment, 6th sense, Imagination, Calm, Sukoon, side effect or negative impact is pessimism.
Saintly people, not just GURU sorts but beyond that -highly evolved souls and people. Top 1% people in the society – spiritual or influential by thoughts or even money/wealth.

FROM WHAT 3 things RAHU KETU represent: one can also see that – how difficult is to predict from charts! Right? This also means astrology is not an exact-science. People born at the same time have different parents and grandparents! :D so, they will have different place and intensity of events. But YES, there WILL be similarities in their family tree and history to a large extent. So, predicting transits of RAHU KETU are far more complicated than other transitions of SHANI GURU etc. Also, they are important with Chandra but also lagna-rashi and how good bad they are placed in the birth-time chart.

Observations:

If you INTERCONNECT RAHU Karakatva – does it mean a person inherits aggression and anger ONLY from paternal family by default: Very aggressive maternal genes and highly aggressive maternal people karma might not come to any person in the form of aggression ever? YES – to a large extent!
Even an aggressive MANGAL with KETU and say, owner of KETU-Rashi or Nakshatra with RAHU might not be able to instill or inherit aggression of the people from the maternal side? Yes, again to a large extent!
Of course, the karma will be inherited & it will have its good & bad effects on a person as shown by KETU in the chart but the nature or “swabhav” will not inherit aggression in the maternal family!
RAHU carries paternal side history and RAHU represents anger agitation. So, one inherits these things predominantly from the paternal side of the family.
Most of the autism cases are related to Budh/Mercury and or Rashi-Swami with Rahu and drushti by Mars/Mangal. They are connected to either pending karma towards maama mousi of either paternal grandfather or paternal grandmother! (Autism does have homeopathy (brain medicine) remedy but more so KAARMIC remedies could help – trying to find with help from astrologer WHOS mama mousi – at times could be own father’s mama mousi but it is PREDOMINANTLY – paternal one of the grandparent’s one!)

Example of KETU – Mama mousi and such family connection:

I met one guy at SALIM’s Tapari in Nashik. SALIM’s Son introduced him to me saying “Are Siranni attach motha job sodun full astrology suru keliye – boss hain ekdum astrology main”! :) So, he asked me is it really so as looking at my attire and perceived age he didn’t think so! :)
I created his chart on mobile and while having cutting chaay told him several things for the next 5 mins (they were all true and some were quite extreme!) Actually, the chart was itself quite “talkative” – he was quite surprised to hear all the great gains he might have had in mid2012 to mid2013 and total losses from Nov2014 to Jan2017! :) Fortuner to DZire and carrying KG Gold on his person in those days to loses taking to a simple lifestyle! The last straw was kidney and maama and mousi and land matters in the maternal family.
His chart had various indicators of highly aggressive maternal family people and also KIDNEY related issues with his mama and mom and his mom and mama seemed connected very strongly to each other from the past birth. (Rather, reality is that --- his mom donated a kidney to her twin brother and saved his life!!) Naturally, he was choked shocked to hear this quick analysis in a compromised setup! :) (I also chocked his friend asking if he has twins but late after the age of 30/31! :) )
LONG STORY SHORT – despite VIOLENT maternal family – this guy is quite docile and rather not in to any yedapanti and wants to resolve by good deeds.
There are lot many examples of maternal aggression getting into kids of that family males and not females. The practical reason could be that inheritance comes to sons more and lesser to women as they go into other family (“parayaa dhan” Afterall reflected in astrology too!?!)
That is why a person has 18 years of RAHU MAHA and only 7 years of KETU MAHA! This means various Antardasha of RAHU are also a LOT bigger than KETU ones. So, our live is lot more impacted by paternal side of the DNA and not maternal side as much?? This despite having KETU 1st house and having all planets in KETU nakshatra which shows rebirth or DNA replication from the maternal family!?
Is that why we say MAATRUMUKHI SADASUKHI?? Is that why Sanjay Dutt gets away with things lot more than father looking people!?? :) :) Just kidding!!
(Counterpoints: KETU Maha only 7 years and KETU AD only a few months so they could be lot more effective?? – YES, that’s true!)

CYCLE of RAHU and KETU:

RAHU & KETU have 18-year circle for 12 signs. 18 months per sign.
At the ages of running 18th 36th 54th 72nd etc transit-RAHU is on your birth-time RAHU! These ages show some transformation of personality and even say maturity of next level not just mind but also DNA and hereditary stuff. So, someone with strong RAHU means having a STRONG paternal family will see higher positions and ACCESS to higher positions at the ages of running 18th 36th 48th itself!! Someone with violent and not so good RAHU would see some difficulties at these ages!
The good part is that ---- GURU has 11.88 (12) years cycle and at the ages of 18th it is aspecting birth-time GURU and 36th it is going over birth-time GURU and 54th again it is aspecting (7th) your birth-time GURU. This ensures good guidance and help with advice and direction despite good or bad RAHU placements.
The NATURE or our planetary system has ensured that when a person hits a JACKPOT due to RAHU KETU or even a person gets HIT badly by bad paternal maternal history is well advised and well directed to take right actions!
At the ages of 9th and 27th 45th 63rd etc etc – transit RAHU is going your Birth-Chart KETU and transit KETU is going over your Birth-time RAHU. These are also interesting times when there is some transition in your life. There are some events planned together with BOTH the families at these times. Rather, some get-togethers should be planned at these ages getting people from both the families together! The person in question should connect with the folks from both the families. DNA wise or family history wise these are interesting ages indeed. I need to collect more case studied here as direct correlation of events is EASIER with GURU SHANI transits and other ones but not these ones which are utterly family history related.

P.S. At the age of running 30 & 60: transit SHANI is on birth-SHANI & transit GURU is also aspecting horoscope GURU!!

In the next article will cover the transits of RAHU KETU in SEPT2020 and its impact on various signs. Hope this description above was interesting one.

----------------------------------------------------------

RAHU in VRISHABH and KETU In VRISHCHIK. GURU in MAKAR rashi from NOV-21-2020 to MARCH-2021 and again SEPT-15-2021 to NOV-20-2021 directs Rahu in a much better way. It helps align RAHU mysticism or hedonism to a large extent. KETU would be in the RashiGandant from SEPT-20-2020 to OCT-29-2020. This creates some issues near big water sources such as big rivers and oceans. Folks having kidney, urinary, prostate etc issues in the maternal family should be more careful in this period. MANGAL in MESH would aspect this KETU till OCT-04 making matters a bit worse. UNLIKE SHANI in Dhanu impacted last Rahu Ketu in Dhanu from MATCH2019 to JAN2020, this time SHANI is in NavPancham with Rahu and Laabh-yog with Ketu. This helps a lot with good results of Rahu Ketu and reduce ill-effects QUITE a bit.

Summary of RAHU changes:

    GREAT for KIRK, MEEN, KANYA
    Good for MAKAR, MESH, SINGH
    Very Adverse for MITHUN, TULA
    Neutral for KUMBH, VRISHABH, VRISHCHIK

Summary of KETU changes:

    GREAT for MAKAR, KANYA, MEEN
    Good for KIRK, KUMBH, TULA
    Adverse for MESH, DHANU
Neutral for VRISHABH, MITHUN, SINGH, VRISHCHIK

POSTING ALL SIGNS NOW ONE BY ONE.

[1] MESH / ARIES

The 2nd house RAHU is not a great change from 3rd house Rahu till 19Sept2020. It is not bad etc as it does help with house of wealth. It shows good wealth matters more so in MAKAR Guru times mentioned above. It does show being a bit over-ambitious with wealth matters which could impact in the months of NOVEMBER both years 2020 and 2021. Need to decide your own limit and be happy with it. 2nd is called as MAARAK sthan by Vedic Astrology as personal does not know where and when to stop. It is not literally “Maarak” etc. :) SHANI in MAKAR is helping this Rahu Ketu as it forms very good yoga with them unlike the last transit. This helps with wealth matters for Mesh folks. 8th house Rahu shows good economic support from paternal side or also people of different caste culture religion etc. KETU in the 8th house is an issue. It shows problems with hereditary health issues in the maternal family mostly to elders, inheritance related issues in the maternal family giving some problems. The top 1% people in the society might not be easily available to you now.

These RAHU KETU transits are happening with very supportive Shani and Guru transits & hence overall impact despite 8th Ketu is OK. 10th Guru 10th Shani is a happening BUT HUHE pressure in 2021 – character test! But it is good to be an imp person! :)

Timelines:

Immediate change impact is for all of MESH rashi for the first 2 months.
The first 2 months applicable more to the KRITTIKA nakshatra (19SEPT2020 to OCT2020)
The next 8 months applicable more to BHARANI Nakshatra (NOV2020 to JUNE2021)
The next 8 months applicable more to ASHWINI Nakshatra (JULY2021 to 17MARCH2022)

[2] VRISHABH / TAURUS

RAHU in your rashi is interesting. It gives some sort of personality change and image in new social circles. Connects with people of different culture or religion etc are increased and rather they create good image & popularity for you. You are mostly among such different culture folks. Rahu does give good energy & optimism and at times some hedonism: attraction of worldly pleasure and luxuries and some indulgences. APRIL and DECEMBER months could show some punga with authorities or legal etc if such indulgence gets out of hand. 7th house KETU shows collaborations & partnerships with high class people who are topmost in their society – top 1% influential people. If maternal family has kidney or reprod organs issues, you should be also careful with it. GURU change from NOV-21-2020 becomes a LOT MORE PRO due to this Rahu and Ketu! RAHU adds to the higher position and permanent good higher duties and role of the 9th GURU in 2021. Shani and Guru are going to change your life in 2021 to a higher level – Rahu Ketu will only help it.

Timelines:

Immediate effect for all of VRISHABH rashi for 2 months.
MRIG of VRISHABH is more applicable for the 4 months from SEPT2020 to DEC2020.
ROHINI of Vrishabh will have the most impact for 8 months from JAN2020 to AUG2020.
KRITTIKA of Vrishabh will have the most impact for 6 months from SEPT2020 to 17MARCH2020.

[3] MITHUN / GEMINI – A tough 2021!

The 12th house RAHU is not the best news for MITHUN Rashi. It shows some expense, peeda, bad mouth, enmity and considerable time spent on fire-fighting. With 8th GURU in NOV2020 to MARCH2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021 --- this adds to the fatigue, peeda and unnecessary running around. Fighting issue but also fighting image like some IT Cell 1000 paid trollers are trolling against you! :) 12th Rahu is about expense of time, money & efforts to avoid “daag /spots” on your reputation. 8th SHANI only adds fuel to the fire as your mass base moves away from your living you as the lone warrior! GURU will support for 4 months from April2021 and 5 months from NOV2021 which shows GREAT relief and way out of issues. 6th house KETU is about giving service to high class people. Connection with saintly or influential high-class people. The remedy for 12th house Rahu is BEING UTTERLY PRACTICAL. Being Pragmatic – NOT taking huge risks and DRAMATIC steps. HANUMAN UPASANA is great remedy indeed. Playing TT and Carom helps magically in 8 or 12 house Rahu movements. Do try it for sure daily! HOMEPATHY would be your major ally in 8th Shani Guru and 12th Rahu period.

Timelines:

The first 2 months are applicable to all of Mithun rashi.
Initial 6 months from SEPT2020 to FEB2021 is predominantly for Punarvasu of Mithun Rashi
The next 8 months from MARCH2021 to SEPT2021 for ARDRA
Then next 6 months from Oct2021 to 17MARCH2022 for MRIG of MITHUN Rashi

[4] KIRK / CANCER

The 11th house RAHU is a major major blessing indeed! Gains, income and one-time payments and overall cash-flow increase. Income due to different culture or religion people. Huge income indeed for the 18 months in your context. Some high-power people to become friends with you for some time. GURU change from NOV2020 to MARCH2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021 only makes this a GREAT thing. It gives full effects of 11th Rahu. 5th house KETU shows ability and opportunity to use knowledge education and buddhi for earning some award or accolade! Recognition due to your knowledge. SHANI is supporting RAHU KETU both but 7th SHANI while helpful with political people due to being DIGBALI – it is about making you realize now all partnerships are fruitful. It suggests calculating all partnerships carefully regardless of success you might be getting from similar background people. Not all Japanese companies are like Honda or Toyota! :)

Timelines:

The first 2 months are effective for all of Kirk rashi.
Initial 8 months are more applicable to Ashlesha Nakshatra from SEPT2020 APRIL2021.
Next 8 months are more applicable to PUSHYA nakshatra from MAY2021 to DEC2021.
Next 2 months are more applicable to Punarvasu from JAN2021 to 17MARCH2022.

[5] SINGH / LEO /SINVHA

RAHU moves to the 10th house IS Good, maybe not as outright blessing as the 11th house Rahu so far. RAHU 10th gives you IMAGE work, high visibility work, work which has lesser impact but much higher image & “value”. Paternal family connections would result very good connections and extra work, business & influence. Rahu would be supported by GURU from NOV 21 2020 to MARCH2021 and SEPT-15-2021 to NOV-15-2021 which will further boost this Rahu results. 6th GURU increases enemies or gives more visibility to enemies but in this case, it will help Rahu also. 4th house KETU shows meeting with near & dear folks of maternal family. More so for the MAGHA nakshatra as it is owned by KETU. Some teerth-yaatra & connections with places of SUKOON. This KETU does not have much of a material side as maternal folks won’t be able to help as much. Kidney stuff or reprod organs stuff was worldwide more due to VRISHCHIK Shani from Nov2014 to OCT2017 but this KETU in the first 8 months could show such issues IF HEREDITARY in the maternal family to self or mom and maama mousi folks.

Timelines:

The First 2 months for all SINGH and more so UTTARA (of Singh only)
Later 8 months from DEC2020 to JULy2021 for POORVA
8 months from AUG2020 to MARCH2021 for MAGHA!

[6] KANYA / VIRGO

RAHU changes to the 9th house which is FANTASTIC as KETU also gets in an effective house of 3rd. Of course, converse is better with 3rd RAHU and 9th KETU but anyways this 180-degree axis is always better in 11-5 or even better in 3-9. 9th RAHU shows abroad connection and obvious different caste culture religion folks’ connection. Such connection giving some strategic work to you. Every country has something great and needs something else. This is what 9th RAHU activates very well. Different set of folks benefit by interactions and help each other. 9th is BHAGYA sthan an any planet in 9th house gives broader responsibility. RAHU is no exception. Mostly good paternal karma will come to you in this period of 18 months – the bad might not come with that much intensity. The 3rd house KETU shows leisure or TP activities with the maternal folks. Picnic, short visits and some peripheral activities with the maternal folks. Good for travel folks and folks who run blogs for history or ancient things & cultures. Also, good expression/writing and presentations for those in spiritual or religious sectors or resurrection of older stuff. 5th GURU from NOV2020 to MARCH2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021 will put CHAR CHAND to this Rahu Ketu positions. SHANI also assists.

Timelines:

The first two months all of Kanya rashi would feel the impact.
The 4 months from NOV2020 to FEB2021 more effective for the CHITRA Nakshatra &
8 months from MARCH2021 to OCT2021 for HASTA nakshatra and then
6 months from NOV2021 to MARCH2022 for UTTARA Nakshatra!

[7] TULA / LIBRA

RAHU 8th house in this period is not the best news. It shows hereditary health issues from the paternal family and more so if you are SWATI nakshatra ruled by RAHU. GURU will reduce issues NOV2020 to MARCh2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021 but 4th GURU in this period and 8th Rahu is SLOW for career and higher career positions. 8th Rahu means need to use shoes and full pants as keede, makoude and even snakes etc could be seen in exact degree Rahu to your Chandra or lagna. Full sleeves or pants and shoes would avoid a few days of pain or nuisance at the least! 2nd KETU is OK! Economic zone is not KETU stronghold. Still, 2nd KETU shows some economic help from high class people in the society! But they are fickle minded and help only when you help them! ;) So, it is OK and average. Overall, 2021 doe show some BLOCKS to your progress but 5th GURU will help for 5 months from APRIl2021 (Chitra/Swati) and 6 months from NOV2021.

Timelines:

Immediate change is in which help all of TULA rashi for 2 months.
The first 6 months are predominantly applicable to VISHAKHA nakshatra (SEPT2020 to FEB2021)
The next 8 months are predominantly applicable to SWATI Nakshatra (MARCH2021 to OCT2021)
The next 4 months are more applicable to Chitra Nakshatra (NOV2021 to MARCh2022)

[8] SCORPIO / VRISHCHIK

RAHU changes to the 7th house is good as it is not 8th now! :) Reduction of issues with paternal elders or hereditary health issues from the paternal side of the family. 7th RAHU shows collaborations, partnerships or even romantic stuff (age) with people of different caste culture religion etc. These would be mostly OK as GURU drushti on Rahu NOV2020 to MARCH2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021. BUT still your chart planets matter 80% and not the transits alone. Still, some good connects and partnerships. KETU in the 1st house shows sukoon, calm and sort of a 6th sense at least for the 2 days when Chandra in your rash each month more so when it is in you nakshatra and more so if it is night and you are sleeping! :) Just kidding! :) KETU 1st house – if any kidney or reprod organs issues in the maternal family then you should be also careful.

Timelines:

Initial 2 months it affects the whole VRISHCIHK rashi regardless of Nakshatra!
From SEPT2020 to APRIL2021: JYESHTHA for first 8 months
Next 8 months from MAY2021 to DEC2021 For ANURADHA in the next 8 months
Last 2 months For VISHAKHA of Vrishchik JAN2022 to MARCh2022.

[9] DHANU / SAGI

6th house RAHU helps with success over competition & enemies – SHATRU_NASH. Shows increased income and gains. Shows income due to service provided to the people of different background. Increased social status. Image among different background people is very high. GURU support from NOV2020 to MARCh2021 and SEPT2021 to NOV2021 is VERY GOOD for gains and income and investments and wealth management. Stomach needs attention though more so if (mostly paternal) family hereditary health issues if any. 12th KETU is not the best news. Shows expense on or due to maternal family folks, expenses or donations overall and to spiritual places and some expense on teerth-yatra too. It shows expense due to whims of influential top 1% people (like GST, demonetization etc) who control society!

Timelines:

First 2 months it is more about UTTARA of DHANU from SETP2020 to OCT2020
Next 8 months it is more about PORRVASHADHA from NOV2020 to JUNE2021
Next 8 months is is about MOOLA from JULY2020 to MARCH2020

[10] MAKAR / CAPRICORN

5th RAHU now shows good use of knowledge and education. Paternal family good-will come to you. Shows good tactical & go-getter approach to achieve things. You get some time-bound projects with specific start and end dates. Good achievements and more so 2021 as GURU stops opposition! Sadesati and Guru in rashi is still slow & steady and nothing magic BUT 1st GURU SHANI and 5th RAHU in 2021 will give some permanent or stable position and career and business with g9ood 9 to 5 stuff where most people are comfortable! :) KETU moves out of the 12th house to the 11th house which is FANTASTIC! 11-5 are natural houses for RAHU KETU but converse is better with 11th RAHU BUT still 11th KETU is great indeed and shows income and gains. Support from maternal family which was earlier attracting expense of time money and efforts. This is a much better change and much welcome.

Timelines:

INITIAL 2 months the whole MAKAR rashi.
Acutely initial 4 months from SEPT2020 to DEC2020 it would be applicable to DHANISTHA of MAKAR
Later for 8 months from JAN2021 to AUG2021 would be applicable to SHRAVAN
The last 6 months from SEPT2021 to MARCH2022 would be more applicable to UTTARA of MAKAR

[11] KUMBH / AQUARIUS

RAHU 4th house is lesser of a thrill than 5th Rahu so far! It shows some stagnancy along with Sadesati first part. 2021 is very stagnant and Rahu 4th adds to that! Of course, 5 months from APRIL2021 would help Dhanishtha (& part Shatataraka) with Guru in rashi. 4th Rahu shows meeting paternal family members. Meeting near & dear folks earlier which were of different background of caste culture or religion etc. Not immediate gains but good meetings & brainstorming. KETU in the 10th house is about – OK / AVERAGE. It is not the most liked house by KETU. It could show some company of high-class people at workplace and good barnstorming or working with them with your limited role. This limited role work with these folks would result in something concrete for you from NOV2021 onward. Remember, interactions with top 1% people are always critical and make or break propositions. You will need to prepare like a KID and school boy regardless of your age.

Timelines:

RAHU KETU first 2 months would give results to ALL KUMBH rashi.
Poorva-Bhadrapada folks would get these effects more from SEPT2020 to FEB2021 -- 6 months.
SHATATARAKA would get them more for 8 months from MARCH2021 to Oct2021.
DHANISHTHA of KUMBH would see more for 6 months from NOV2021 to MARCH2022.

[12] MEEN / PISCES

GREAT support from RAHU KETU now 3rd and 9th house. Houses they love! MEEN is already ruling the roost with 10th Guru and 11th SHANI. RAHU KETU join this bandwagon and Joe Biden would have liked to be MEEN Rashi if we were supposed to win as it gives good results in 2021. (He is MESH?). 3rd RAHU is great for IMAPCT, PARAKRAM, using/leveraging of the different background contacts you acquired from 4th Rahu so far! It shows good travels too. 9th KETU adds to this. Shows support from top-class people who are 1% in the society. Shows higher career position and strategic success. Both paternal and maternal family good-will comes to you. The intense or not so good part of family karma will come to you very less form. There is hardly any side-effect to this RAHU KETU blessings. RATHER, 2021 both GURU and SHANI bless MEEN Rashi which is monumental indeed.

Timelines:

REVATI nakshatra would see more effects in the first 8 months from SEPT2020 to APRIL2021
UTTARA-BHADRAPADA would see more effects for next 8 months from MAY2021 to DEC2021
Next 2 months would be for POORVA-BHADRAPADA of MEEN from JAN2022 to MARCH2022

Fifth House in Astrology Children, Creativity and Navagrahas

Fifth House in Astrology: Children, Creativity and Navagrahas

The Fifth House in astrology is associated with children, creativity, intelligence, romance, education, self-expression and past merit. In Vedic astrology, it is often called Putra Bhava. While the Fourth House relates to home, mother and emotional security, the Fifth House focuses on creative expression, learning, joy, affection and the ability to produce something meaningful. Astrology is a traditional interpretive system whose claims have not been scientifically established. It should not replace professional medical, legal, financial or mental health advice. What Does the Fifth House Represent? Common Fifth House themes include: Children and parenting Creativity and self-expression Intelligence and learning Romance and affection Education and memory Hobbies and entertainment Mantra, devotion and spiritual merit Speculation and calculated risks Joy, play and performance A strong Fifth House does not automatically guarantee children, fame or creative success. Its meaning depends on the Rashi occupying it, Navagrahas placed there, the Fifth House lord, aspects and the complete birth chart. Children, Creativity and Intelligence The Fifth House is traditionally studied for children, blessings connected with offspring and the emotional bond between parent and child. It is also connected with creativity, imagination, learning ability and the way a person expresses joy. In Vedic astrology, the Fifth House may also be examined for mantra practice, devotion, memory, education and purva punya, or past-life merit. Because it is linked with speculation, it may be considered in matters involving risk-taking. Astrological interpretation should never be used as financial advice. The Lord of the Fifth House The Graha ruling the Rashi in the Fifth House is called the Fifth House lord or Putra Bhava lord. Its Rashi, house placement, strength, conjunctions and aspects may show how Fifth House themes develop. For example, if Leo occupies the Fifth House, Surya becomes its lord, and Surya’s placement becomes important. Navagrahas in the Fifth House Navagrahas placed in the Fifth House may influence children, creativity, intelligence, romance, education and spiritual merit. Surya (Sun): Confidence, leadership, pride in children, creativity and desire for recognition Chandra (Moon): Emotional creativity, affection, imagination, nurturing nature and love for children Mangala (Mars): Competitive spirit, passion, bold creativity, sports, risk-taking or impulsive romance Budha (Mercury): Intelligence, writing, learning, humor, communication and analytical creativity Guru or Brihaspati (Jupiter): Wisdom, education, children, guidance, devotion and moral understanding Shukra (Venus): Romance, beauty, art, pleasure, performance and refined creative expression Shani (Saturn): Serious learning, delayed joy, responsibility toward children or disciplined creativity Rahu: Unusual creativity, intense desire for recognition, unconventional romance or speculative ambition Ketu: Spiritual intelligence, detachment from praise, mantra interest or inward creative expression These are broad traditional meanings. The final interpretation depends on the Graha’s Rashi, dignity, Nakshatra, conjunctions, aspects and the condition of the Fifth House lord. Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes rather than physical planets, but they are included among the Navagrahas in Vedic astrology. What Does an Empty Fifth House Mean? An empty Fifth House does not mean that a person will lack children, intelligence, romance or creativity. Astrologers may interpret it through the Rashi occupying the house, the placement of the Fifth House lord and aspects influencing the house. An empty house remains active through its ruler. Fifth House Transits When a Graha moves through the Fifth House, astrologers may connect the period with children, education, creativity, romance, hobbies, spiritual practice or speculative decisions. A Guru transit may be associated with learning, guidance or blessings, while a Shani transit may emphasize discipline, responsibility or delay. These interpretations are not guaranteed outcomes. Fourth House in Astrology: Home, Mother and Navagrahas

The Fourth House in astrology is associated with home, mother, emotional security, property, vehicles, education and inner peace. In Vedic astrology, it is often called Sukha Bhava, the house of comfort and happiness. While the Third House relates to effort, communication and siblings, the Fourth House focuses on private life, emotional foundations and the sense of belonging. What Does the Fourth House Represent? Common Fourth House themes include: Home and domestic life Mother or maternal influence Emotional security Property and land Vehicles and comforts Education and learning foundations Family environment Inner peace and happiness Private life and roots A strong Fourth House does not automatically guarantee comfort, property or family harmony. In Vedic astrology, it is closely connected with the mother or maternal influence. It may also be studied for domestic happiness, property matters, vehicles and the private emotional world. Because this house relates to comfort and peace, astrologers may examine it to understand what gives a person a sense of safety and belonging. Astrological interpretations should not be used as legal, financial or family advice. The Lord of the Fourth House The Graha ruling the Rashi in the Fourth House is called the Fourth House lord or Sukha Bhava lord. Fourth House Transits When a Graha moves through the Fourth House, astrologers may connect the period with home, family, property, vehicles, education or emotional reflection. A Guru transit may be associated with support, learning or growth, while a Shani transit may emphasize responsibility, discipline or duties connected with home and family. These interpretations are not guaranteed outcomes. First House in Astrology Meaning, Planets and Ascendant

First House in Astrology: Meaning, Planets and Ascendant

The First House in astrology represents identity, appearance, temperament and the way a person approaches life. It begins at the Ascendant, also called the rising sign. While the Sun sign is linked with core identity and the Moon sign with emotional needs, the First House is traditionally associated with outward behavior, first impressions and instinctive reactions. Astrology is a traditional interpretive system whose claims have not been scientifically established. It should not replace medical, legal, financial or mental health advice. What Does the First House Represent? Often called the house of self, the First House may show how a person presents themselves, responds to new situations and begins personal experiences. Common themes include: Identity and self-image Physical appearance Temperament Personal style First impressions Initiative Approach to life A strong First House does not automatically mean someone is confident or self-centered. Its meaning depends on the rising sign, Navagrahas placed there, aspects and the chart ruler. The First House and the Ascendant The Ascendant is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at the recorded time and place of birth. It marks the beginning of the First House. Because the Ascendant changes throughout the day, an accurate birth time is important. A change in time may alter the rising sign or move a Graha near a house cusp. The Ascendant is traditionally linked with appearance, mannerisms, first impressions and the way a person enters new situations. The Ruler of the First House The planet ruling the Ascendant sign is called the chart ruler or Lagna lord. Its sign, house placement and aspects may provide more information about how the First House is expressed. If Aries is rising, Mars becomes the chart ruler. If Taurus is rising, Venus becomes the chart ruler. The ruler’s placement may connect identity with another area of life. Navagrahas in the First House The Navagrahas placed in the First House are often considered noticeable in personality, appearance and behavior. Surya (Sun): Identity, confidence, authority and self-expression Chandra (Moon): Emotions, sensitivity, adaptability and instinctive reactions Mangala (Mars): Initiative, courage, directness and competitiveness Budha (Mercury): Communication, curiosity, intelligence and mental activity Guru or Brihaspati (Jupiter): Wisdom, optimism, generosity and an expansive presence Shukra (Venus): Charm, sociability, attraction and aesthetic awareness Shani (Saturn): Seriousness, patience, restraint, responsibility and discipline Rahu: Ambition, individuality, desire for recognition and an unconventional identity Ketu: Detachment, introspection, spiritual inclination and inward self-exploration These are only broad starting points. The Graha’s Rashi, dignity, conjunctions, aspects, Nakshatra and overall condition must also be considered. Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes rather than physical planets, but they are included among the Navagrahas because of their importance in Vedic astrology. Zodiac Signs on the First House Cusp The rising sign influences the style through which the First House may be expressed. Fire signs may appear direct and enthusiastic. Earth signs may seem practical and steady. Air signs may appear communicative and socially responsive, while water signs may seem sensitive or intuitive. These are broad tendencies, not fixed personality descriptions. What Does an Empty First House Mean? An empty First House does not mean that a person lacks identity, confidence or presence. Astrologers may interpret it through the Ascendant sign, Lagna lord and aspects involving that ruler. An empty house remains active through its sign and ruling planet. First House Transits When a Graha moves through the First House, astrologers may connect the period with identity, appearance, personal direction or new beginnings. A Jupiter transit may be associated with growth or expansion, while a Saturn transit may emphasize responsibility, discipline or self-definition. Transit interpretations should not be treated as guaranteed predictions. Understanding the First House The First House is the starting point of the birth chart. It helps astrologers interpret identity, presentation, instinctive behavior and a person’s approach to life. Its meaning depends on the Ascendant, Navagrahas inside the house, the Lagna lord, planetary aspects and the house system used. To see how it fits into the full chart, read our complete guide to the 12 houses in astrology.

12 Houses in Astrology Meaning of Each Birth Chart House

12 Houses in Astrology: Meaning of Each Birth Chart House

The 12 houses in astrology represent areas such as identity, money, communication, home, relationships, career and spiritual reflection. Planets show the energy involved, signs describe how it is expressed, and houses indicate where it may appear. Astrology is a traditional interpretive system whose claims have not been scientifically established. It should not replace medical, legal, financial or mental health advice. What Are the Houses in Astrology? A birth chart is a symbolic map of the sky for a specific date, time and place. It contains 12 houses, each linked with a different area of life. The First House begins at the Ascendant, or rising sign. House boundaries may vary by calculation system. Why Birth Time and Location Matter House calculations require a birth date, recorded birth time and birthplace. These determine the Ascendant and house cusps. A small time difference may change the rising sign or move a planet into a neighboring house. Without a reliable birth time, house placements may be inaccurate. The 12 Houses in Astrology at a Glance The table summarizes the areas linked with each house. House Main meaning Areas traditionally associated with it First House Identity and personal approach Appearance, temperament, first impressions, initiative and approach to life Second House Money and personal values Income, possessions, savings, material security, priorities and self-worth Third House Communication and learning Speaking, writing, siblings, neighbors, practical learning and short journeys Fourth House Home and emotional foundations Family, ancestry, property, private life, belonging and emotional security Fifth House Creativity and self-expression Romance, children, hobbies, entertainment, performance, sports and pleasure Sixth House Work and daily routines Employment conditions, coworkers, habits, service, wellness routines and pets Seventh House Partnerships and agreements Marriage, long-term relationships, business partners, contracts and negotiation Eighth House Shared resources and transformation Joint finances, debt, taxes, inheritance, intimacy, trust and renewal Ninth House Higher learning and beliefs Universities, international travel, philosophy, religion, law and publishing Tenth House Career and public life Reputation, ambition, leadership, recognition, authority and achievement Eleventh House Community and future goals Friends, networks, organizations, teamwork, social causes and aspirations Twelfth House Solitude and reflection Dreams, the subconscious, meditation, retreat, hidden patterns and compassion The table is a starting point. Separate articles will explain each house’s planets, signs, ruler and transits. How Astrologers Interpret a House Astrologers consider several connected factors. The Zodiac Sign on the House Cusp A cusp is a house’s starting boundary. Its sign describes how the house’s themes may be expressed. Planets Inside the House A planet may bring its qualities into that area of life. Its sign, aspects and condition also matter. The Ruler of the House The planet ruling the sign on the cusp helps show how and where the house’s themes may develop. Planetary Aspects Aspects are angular relationships used to interpret how planetary functions interact. The House System House boundaries may change according to the calculation system used. A planet near a cusp may appear in one house under one system and in a neighboring house under another. Understanding the 12 Houses House meanings depend on the sign on each cusp, planets inside it, its ruler, aspects and the system used. The table gives an overview; separate guides will explain each house in greater depth.

Meaning of the Nine Planets in Vedic Astrology

Meaning of the Nine Planets in Vedic Astrology

In Vedic astrology, the nine grahas—Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu—represent different areas of life and personality. The word graha is often translated as “planet,” although Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes rather than physical planets. No graha is interpreted alone. Its zodiac sign, house, strength and relationship with other grahas add important context. These meanings are traditional interpretations, not guaranteed predictions. Surya: Identity and Authority Surya, or the Sun, represents identity, confidence, vitality, purpose and leadership. It may show how a person develops self-respect, seeks recognition and handles responsibility. A balanced Surya may support clarity and confidence, while an unbalanced expression may appear as pride or a strong need for approval. Chandra: Mind and Emotions Chandra, or the Moon, represents the mind, emotions, habits, sensitivity and inner security. It may describe how a person reacts emotionally, gives or receives care and responds to changing situations. A balanced Chandra may support calmness and empathy, while a disturbed expression may bring worry or emotional fluctuation. Mangala: Courage and Action Mangala, or Mars, represents energy, courage, initiative, ambition and action. It may show how a person pursues goals, faces conflict and protects personal boundaries. Constructive Mangala may support bravery and determination, while poorly directed energy may appear as impatience, anger or impulsive behavior. Budha: Intelligence and Communication Budha, or Mercury, represents intelligence, speech, learning, logic and communication. It may influence how a person understands ideas, makes decisions and expresses thoughts. A balanced Budha may support clear communication and adaptability, while imbalance may appear as overthinking, inconsistency or indecision. Guru: Wisdom and Growth Guru, also called Brihaspati or Jupiter, represents wisdom, knowledge, growth, guidance and higher learning. It may show where a person seeks meaning, education and broader understanding. Constructive Guru may encourage optimism and sound judgment, while excess may lead to overconfidence or unrealistic expectations. Shukra: Love and Values Shukra, or Venus, represents love, attraction, relationships, beauty, comfort and personal values. It may describe how a person gives affection, seeks harmony and appreciates art or pleasure. A balanced Shukra may support warmth and diplomacy, while imbalance may create dependence on approval, comfort or material enjoyment. Shani: Discipline and Responsibility Shani, or Saturn, represents discipline, patience, duty, boundaries and long-term effort. It may point to areas where maturity and consistency are needed. Shani is not only associated with delay or difficulty; it may also support endurance, humility and lasting achievement through responsible action. Rahu: Desire and Ambition Rahu is the north lunar node. It represents desire, ambition, fascination, worldly experience and attraction toward unfamiliar paths. It may encourage innovation, boldness and exploration. When excessive, Rahu may be linked with confusion, obsession, dissatisfaction or unrealistic goals. Ketu: Detachment and Insight Ketu is the south lunar node. It represents detachment, inner awareness, spiritual interest and release from old patterns. It may show an area of natural familiarity that no longer brings full satisfaction. Constructive Ketu may support intuition and independence, while imbalance may appear as withdrawal or lack of direction. Why All Nine Grahas Matter Each graha represents a different function: Surya reflects identity, Chandra the mind, Mangala action, Budha communication, Guru wisdom, Shukra relationships, Shani responsibility, Rahu desire and Ketu detachment. No graha is completely good or bad. Its meaning depends on the complete horoscope, including its sign, house, strength, aspects and conjunctions. Readers seeking a personalized interpretation should consult a professional astrologer using accurate birth details.

Birth Chart Reading for Beginners Signs, Houses and Planets

Birth Chart Reading for Beginners: Signs, Houses and Planets

Learning how to read a birth chart step by step can make astrology easier to understand. Instead of interpreting every symbol separately, beginners can follow a clear order: confirm the birth details, find the ascendant, identify the planets, review the houses and study the aspects. A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a symbolic map of the sky calculated for a person’s birth date, exact birth time and birthplace. Astrologers use the complete chart to explore personality patterns, emotional tendencies, relationships and areas of personal development. Astrology is an interpretive tradition and has not been scientifically proven to predict specific events. It should not replace medical, legal, financial or mental health advice. 1. Confirm the Birth Date, Time and Location Begin by checking the information used to calculate the chart: Birth date Exact birth time Birth city and country The birth time is especially important because it helps determine the rising sign and the arrangement of the 12 houses. Even a difference in the recorded time may affect these parts of the chart. When an exact birth time is unavailable, some planetary placements may still be discussed, but the ascendant and house positions may be less certain. 2. Find the Rising Sign or Ascendant The rising sign, also called the ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was positioned on the eastern horizon at the calculated moment of birth. In traditional astrology, the ascendant is associated with outward behavior, first impressions and the way a person approaches new situations. It also marks the beginning of the first house and helps establish the remaining house placements. Because the rising sign changes throughout the day, an accurate birth time is essential for identifying it correctly. 3. Identify the Sun and Moon Signs Next, locate the Sun and Moon in the chart. The Sun is commonly connected with identity, purpose and personal direction. Its zodiac sign may describe how these qualities are expressed, while its house shows the area of life where they may become especially noticeable. The Moon is traditionally associated with emotions, habits, inner needs and instinctive responses. Its sign may describe a person’s emotional style, while its house connects those needs with a particular area of life. The Sun sign is only one part of the chart. Two people with the same Sun sign may have different Moon signs, ascendants, houses and planetary aspects. 4. Review the Planets, Signs and Houses After locating the Sun and Moon, identify the other planets and note the zodiac sign and house occupied by each one. A simple way to understand the chart is: Planet = what is being expressed Sign = how it may be expressed House = where it may appear For example, the planet represents a function or theme. The zodiac sign describes its style of expression, and the house connects it with an area such as family, work, relationships or personal growth. The zodiac signs are also grouped by elements and modes. The four elements are fire, earth, air and water. A mode is a style of expression, described as cardinal, fixed or mutable. Repeated elements or modes may become important when they appear across several placements. 5. Understand the 12 Houses A natal chart is divided into 12 houses. Each house represents a different area of experience. The houses may be connected with themes including: Identity and self-expression Personal resources Communication and learning Home and family Creativity Work and daily routines Relationships Shared resources Beliefs and higher learning Career and public life Friendships and communities Privacy and reflection A house without a planet is not necessarily unimportant. Its zodiac sign and ruling planet may still contribute to its interpretation. Beginners should avoid interpreting a house separately from the planets, signs and aspects connected with it. 6. Study the Planetary Aspects Aspects are the angles formed between planets in a birth chart. Astrologers interpret these relationships as showing how different planetary themes may cooperate, challenge or balance one another. When studying an aspect, consider: Which planets are connected The signs occupied by those planets The houses involved Whether the same theme appears elsewhere in the chart Some aspects are traditionally considered supportive, while others may suggest tension or adjustment. However, no single aspect should automatically be treated as entirely positive or negative. A balanced interpretation depends on the complete chart. 7. Look for Repeated Chart Patterns After reviewing the main placements, step back and look at the chart as a whole. Repeated patterns may include several planets in one sign, several planets in one house, a strong concentration of one element or multiple aspects involving the same planet. These patterns may provide more useful context than one isolated placement. Beginners should look for themes that appear more than once instead of drawing conclusions from a single sign, house or aspect. This whole-chart approach helps create a more balanced interpretation. 8. Consider Transits After Understanding the Natal Chart Transits describe the current movement of planets in relation to the natal chart. Astrologers compare present planetary positions with birth-chart placements to explore changing themes or periods of emphasis. Transits should be studied only after the natal chart has been understood. They should not be treated as guaranteed predictions or as proof that a particular event will occur. A responsible interpretation considers possibilities, personal circumstances and individual choices. A Simple Birth-Chart Reading Order Beginners can follow this sequence: Confirm the birth date, time and location. Find the rising sign or ascendant. Identify the Sun and Moon signs. Locate the planets by sign and house. Review the 12 houses. Study the major aspects. Look for repeated themes and patterns. Examine transits only after understanding the natal chart. Following the same order each time makes birth-chart reading clearer and reduces the risk of relying too heavily on one placement. Why the Complete Birth Chart Matters A natal chart contains several connected layers. The Sun, Moon and ascendant provide an important starting point, but the planets, houses and aspects add further context. Accurate birth details and a whole-chart approach are essential for a more personalized interpretation. An experienced astrologer can help connect the different chart patterns while considering the individual’s circumstances. For personalized guidance, use Ask an Astrologer to have your birth chart reviewed in context. Astrology can support reflection and self-exploration, but it should not replace qualified professional advice.

What is astrology A beginners guide to signs, planets and birth charts

What is astrology? A beginners guide to signs, planets and birth charts

What is astrology? A beginner’s guide to signs, planets and birth charts explains a traditional system that interprets the symbolic positions of the Sun, Moon, planets and other celestial points. Astrologers use these placements to explore personality, emotions, relationships and recurring life themes. Astrology is not scientifically proven to predict events, so responsible readings should be treated as guidance rather than certainty. How a birth chart is created A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is calculated using a person’s exact birth date, birth time and birth location. These details help determine the rising sign, or ascendant, and the placement of planets across the 12 houses. The zodiac includes 12 signs, from Aries to Pisces. Each sign is associated with an element and a mode, which describe its traditional qualities and style of expression. Signs, planets and houses The Sun sign is commonly linked with identity and personal direction, while the Moon sign is associated with emotional needs and inner responses. The rising sign is often interpreted as the way a person approaches life and is perceived by others. Planets represent different functions, while the houses connect those functions with areas such as family, career, health, relationships and finances. Aspects, transits and personal guidance Aspects are the angles formed between planets and may show how different parts of a chart interact. Transits compare current planetary movements with the birth chart and are traditionally used to consider changing influences, opportunities and periods of reflection. Beginners can start with the Sun, Moon and rising signs before studying planets, houses, aspects and transits. Astrology should not replace medical, legal, financial or mental health advice. For personalized guidance, use Ask an Astrologer and provide accurate birth details for a complete chart interpretation.
