The trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, has finally been released, and it offers a blend of humor, heart, and hope. Set to hit theatres on June 20, 2025, the film is directed by RS Prasanna and is the official Hindi remake of the acclaimed Spanish film Champions. The original explored the unlikely relationship between a professional coach and a team of differently abled players a theme that Sitaare Zameen Par adapts with an Indian sensibility.
In the film, Aamir Khan plays a hot-headed basketball coach who is forced to train a team of specially abled players for the National Championship. What begins as a reluctant duty soon evolves into a transformative experience, not just for the team but for the coach himself. The trailer captures this journey with a light-hearted tone, a few emotional beats, and a promise of wholesome family entertainment.

While the emotional depth that fans may expect from a title reminiscent of Taare Zameen Par is slightly subdued in the trailer, the story clearly aims to strike a chord with its audience through themes of inclusion, personal growth, and team spirit. The comparison to Taare Zameen Par, one of Aamir Khan’s most beloved films, sets high expectations. Whether Sitaare Zameen Par can recreate that level of emotional impact remains to be seen.

The trailer itself seems to lay out most of the plot, offering few surprises but making its intentions clear to be a feel-good, socially conscious film that celebrates differences and underdog triumphs. The Indian adaptation will likely emphasize regional flavor and cultural nuances, which could make it more relatable for local audiences. Aamir Khan is joined by Genelia Deshmukh in a key role, along with an ensemble of new and familiar faces including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, and more. Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, Aayush Bhansali, Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, and Brijendra Kala round out the diverse cast.

Backed by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film features music composed by the celebrated trio Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonsa, promising a memorable soundtrack that blends energy with emotion. With its focus on inclusion and inspiration, Sitaare Zameen Par aims to be more than just another sports drama. It’s a story of second chances, acceptance, and unlearning biases. As the release date approaches, all eyes are on Aamir Khan can this film mark his much-awaited return to box office success? The answer lies on June 20.
