Public Doubts Rise on Kamal Haasan's Indian 3

After the underwhelming performance of Thug Life, public sentiment around Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Indian 3 is increasingly skeptical. During promotional events for Indian 2, Kamal barely discussed that film, instead focusing heavily on Indian 3, claiming it would be the real “game-changer” for the franchise. However, Indian 2 did not meet expectations, and now fans are questioning whether Indian 3 will follow the same path.

Kamal also made exaggerated claims about Thug Life, stating it would surpass Nayakan his 1987 classic with Mani Ratnam, widely regarded as a cinematic landmark. But Thug Life failed both critically and commercially, casting doubt on Kamal’s credibility and leaving fans feeling misled.

This pattern of overhyping has led many to believe Indian 3, directed by Shankar and reportedly ready for release, may not get a theatrical launch at all. There’s growing buzz that it could go directly to digital platforms, especially after Thug Life's box office failure.

Many fans feel that Kamal Haasan's recent interviews and marketing have been more about showmanship than substance. The dissonance between what was promised and what was delivered in his recent projects is fueling fears that Indian 3 might also disappoint.

For now, audiences are cautious. While some still hope for a redemption arc with Indian 3, others see it as yet another example of Kamal’s recent tendency to rely on bold statements to generate hype, regardless of a film’s actual merit. Only time—and the film’s eventual release will tell if Indian 3 can defy expectations.
