Sreenu Vaitla Reveals Hidden Trivia About Venky

In a recent interview promoting the re-release of Dhee, director Sreenu Vaitla shared a surprising behind-the-scenes story about his 2004 cult comedy Venky, starring Ravi Teja. According to Vaitla, the lead character’s original name in the film was “Seenu.” The entire movie was shot using this name. However, during post-production, the team felt that “Venky” sounded more appealing as a title. Since the names had similar lip-syncs, they made a last-minute decision to dub over “Seenu” with “Venky.”

Interestingly, producer Atluri Purna Chandra Rao initially wanted to title the movie Ravi Teja, but the star stood by the creative team’s choice to go with Venky, even if it seemed to reference another big actor, Venkatesh.

On the work front, Sreenu Vaitla is recovering his creative edge after Viswam. Though the film wasn’t a hit, it showed promise. He also confirmed his next film will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, known for backing top-tier Telugu cinema.

Meanwhile, Ravi Teja is prepping for his upcoming mass entertainer Mass Jathara, scheduled for a Ganesh Chaturthi release in August. He’s also lined up a collaboration with Kishore Tirumala for a big release during Sankranthi 2026. With nostalgic stories and exciting updates, both Vaitla and Ravi Teja seem poised to create more magic on-screen.
