Sunita Ahuja: Son Yashwardhan Will Outshine Govinda
Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood legend Govinda, has full faith that their son Yashwardhan Ahuja will make a significant mark in the film industry perhaps even surpassing his iconic father. In a recent interview, she shared her excitement and confidence in Yashwardhan’s future, stating that he is a talented dancer and actor who has been preparing seriously for his big break.
Yashwardhan, who has previously assisted on films like Dishoom and Baaghi, is now set to star in the Hindi remake of the acclaimed Telugu film Baby, directed by Sai Rajesh. Although the project faced a delay following actor Babil Khan’s exit, Sunita remains hopeful and enthusiastic about her son's career trajectory.
In her interview, Sunita revealed that their home is often a hub for discussions about scripts and concepts. “He’s working very hard and is always discussing film subjects with me,” she said. However, she gave her son one crucial piece of advice—do not copy Govinda. Sunita believes that while Govinda is a legend in his own right, Yashwardhan must build his own path and identity as an actor. “He should create his own style and image. I’ve told him not to imitate his father. He’ll be a bigger name than Govinda,” she confidently stated.
The Ahuja family has recently been in the spotlight not just for Yashwardhan’s upcoming debut but also for personal matters. Earlier this year, there were rumors of Sunita and Govinda heading for a divorce. Although Sunita dropped the surname ‘Ahuja’ from her social media for numerological reasons, her team later clarified that the couple had reconciled after a brief misunderstanding.
Govinda and Sunita married in 1986 but kept their marriage secret for four years. They have two children, Yashwardhan and Tina, both aspiring to join the film industry. While Govinda became a household name in the 90s with hits like Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Partner, and Bade Miya Chote Miya, he has taken a step back from the silver screen in recent years. Now, with Yashwardhan gearing up for his own Bollywood journey, Sunita’s words reflect not only a mother’s belief but also a strategic insight into how star kids today must craft their own legacy.
