Akhanda 2 Release Update: Delays Push Movie to December?

The much-anticipated Akhanda 2 – Thandavam, starring Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, is facing a potential delay, pushing its release to later in the year. Originally expected to release in September, the sequel to Akhanda is now looking at a possible release date around December 18, 2025, as the film’s team grapples with delays in shooting and post-production. This is expected to make room for Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu, scheduled for release on July 24, and OG, which is slated to release shortly after.

While the Akhanda 2 team insists that rumors of a delay are exaggerated, the film has experienced setbacks, including a planned shoot in Prayaga that was delayed due to heavy rainfall. The film’s extensive use of CGI and additional time required for post-production has also contributed to the delays. Despite these challenges, the team is confident that the movie will be ready by the new release date and has started the dubbing process simultaneously to ensure timely completion.

The movie’s new release window of December 18 seems to be the most feasible, as it allows the team to avoid competing with other big films slated for September. The team is optimistic that the production will be completed as planned, but they have stated that a clearer picture of the release date will emerge by the first week of August.

In the meantime, OG is preparing for its promotional campaign next month, following the release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu. With several high-profile films in the pipeline, the competition for box office space will be intense in the coming months, and Akhanda 2 is determined to make its mark, regardless of the changing release dates.
