Coolie Advance Booking: Rajinikanth Eyes ₹100 Crore Day 1 Global Box Office Record
Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie is already rewriting box office history days before its release. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film has raked in over ₹51 crore gross in worldwide pre-sales for Day 1, with domestic pre-sales contributing around ₹14 crore gross. Industry trackers suggest that with bookings yet to open fully across all regions, Coolie could cross the monumental ₹100 crore global gross mark on its opening day a feat rarely achieved by an Indian film and unprecedented for a Tamil title.
Back home, the Tamil version is leading the charts, selling around 6.6 lakh tickets in India and grossing ₹13.80 crore. Across all languages, the film has sold approximately 6.8 lakh tickets, further cementing its status as one of the most anticipated Indian releases of 2025. The numbers are expected to skyrocket as the Independence Day weekend approaches, turning theatres into celebratory grounds for Rajinikanth fans.
Coolie will face stiff competition in the northern markets from War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. While War 2 targets the Hindi-speaking audience, Coolie is expected to dominate in Tamil Nadu and other South Indian states, with strong overseas traction thanks to Rajinikanth’s massive global fan base.
Slated for release on August 14, Coolie features a stellar ensemble cast including Shruti Haasan, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. With Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action-packed direction and Rajinikanth’s unmatched charisma, the film is set to deliver a cinematic spectacle on a grand scale. All eyes are now on opening day numbers as Coolie aims to make history.
