Telugu Film Strike Called Off: New Payment Rules Announced for Producers and Workers
After several rounds of meetings between the Telugu Film Unions and producers, the long-running strike in the Telugu film industry has finally been called off. The unions had raised several demands, leading to the halt in film productions, but after fruitful negotiations, producers have agreed to meet many of these demands.
With the strike officially over, film shootings have resumed, though the implementation of the new payment rules is still in progress. To avoid any confusion, both the Film Chamber and Labour Unions are overseeing the payment process.
The Film Chamber of Commerce announced that producers are no longer required to make payments directly to the unions. Instead, they are now allowed to pay the workers directly, ensuring more transparency and quicker access to their wages. This new payment model aims to simplify the process and avoid delays.
Additionally, any bills related to union fees must now be submitted to the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, as per the decision reached with the Telangana Labour Department. This system is designed to ensure accountability and transparency in the way funds are handled.
Since workers require daily wages, producers are expected to pay them directly. However, in cases of disputes or uncertainties, the payments can be temporarily deposited with the Chamber until the system is fully streamlined. With the new rules in place, the Telugu film industry looks set to move forward smoothly, offering better terms for both producers and workers, and minimizing disruptions to the production schedule.
