Takahiro Sakurai Praises Rajinikanth, Admits He Can't Dub for Him

Japanese voice actor Takahiro Sakurai, known for his role as Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer, recently expressed deep admiration for Indian superstar Rajinikanth. As the much-awaited Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 prepares to release in India on September 12, Sakurai shared his awe for Rajinikanth, acknowledging his iconic presence and voice.

Sakurai humorously admitted that he would find it nearly impossible to dub for Rajinikanth, stating, “He has a very solid presence and a deep voice.” The veteran voice actor, who also voiced Cloud Strife in Final Fantasy, pointed out how Rajinikanth’s film Muthu became a cultural phenomenon in Japan, grossing $400,000 and becoming India’s highest-grossing release in Japan at the time.

Sakurai also praised the cinematic genius of SS Rajamouli, highlighting RRR and Baahubali as prime examples of Indian films that have achieved global success, resonating deeply with international audiences.

With Demon Slayer now regarded as one of the most influential anime franchises worldwide, Sakurai’s appreciation for Indian cinema further underscores the universal language of storytelling that connects cultures across the globe.
