Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra Hits Rs 100 Crore at the Box Office, Continues Unstoppable Run

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Malayalam cinema's first female superhero film, has crossed a significant milestone by surpassing the Rs 100 crore mark globally. This achievement makes it the third Malayalam film this year to reach this landmark, following Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan and Thudarum. Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra features Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, and Sandy in lead roles, with an ensemble supporting cast that includes Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas.

The film, which was released on August 28, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, despite facing competition from other Onam releases. The movie has already grossed Rs 46 crore nett at the domestic box office and is on track to hit the Rs 50 crore nett mark soon. With positive word-of-mouth and a solid performance in its second weekend, Lokah is expected to continue its successful run.

Box Office Collections and Success

Lokah's journey at the box office has been impressive. On Day 7, the film earned Rs 6.75 crore nett in India. Despite a slight dip in collections, the movie’s steady growth showcases its strong appeal, particularly in Kerala and other states. Here's the day-wise collection breakdown for Lokah:

  • Day 1: Rs 2.7 crore

  • Day 2: Rs 4 crore

  • Day 3: Rs 7.6 crore

  • Day 4: Rs 10.1 crore

  • Day 5: Rs 7.2 crore

  • Day 6: Rs 7.65 crore

  • Day 7: Rs 6.75 crore
    Total: Rs 46 crore

Made on a budget of approximately Rs 35 crore, Lokah is the first installment in the superhero genre to incorporate elements of popular Malayalam folklore, adding a unique cultural touch to the genre. The film's success has been attributed to its compelling storyline, strong performances, and impressive visuals.

Future Outlook and Second Part

Produced by Wayfarer Films, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has been dubbed into multiple languages and continues to perform well in various regions. It has already outperformed Mohanlal’s comedy-drama Hridayapoorvam at the box office. Now, all eyes are on the second part of the film, with fans eagerly awaiting how the story unfolds in the next chapter of this superhero saga. With Lokah’s box office success, Kalyani Priyadarshan and the entire team have made their mark in the Malayalam film industry, and the film's continued success ensures that the Lokah franchise is here to stay.
