YRF To Co-Produce Krrish 4 With Rakesh Roshan Despite War 2 Failure
Bollywood’s iconic superhero franchise Krrish is set to return with its fourth installment, and this time Yash Raj Films (YRF) is betting big despite recent setbacks. Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan confirmed that Krrish 4 is deep in pre-production and shooting will begin by mid-2026. The movie, co-produced by Roshan’s Filmkraft and YRF, is scheduled to hit theatres in 2027. This marks the first collaboration between the two production houses, generating major buzz in the industry.
The decision comes on the heels of YRF’s disappointing outing with Hrithik Roshan’s War 2. Despite a strong opening, the film failed to maintain momentum and closed as a box office flop, resulting in heavy losses for the studio. Still, YRF is ready to gamble again, this time with the Krrish franchise. Analysts note that while War 2’s underperformance may affect Hrithik’s immediate box office value, the established popularity of Krrish could offset risks.
The Krrish franchise has been one of Bollywood’s most successful superhero series, with Hrithik Roshan leading since its inception. Rakesh Roshan is taking extra time in pre-production to avoid delays, ensuring the ambitious project stays on track for its 2027 release. The film is expected to feature high-end VFX, a larger-than-life story, and the franchise’s signature blend of action, emotion, and science fiction.
Krrish 4 is both a financial risk and a golden opportunity. Despite War 2’s failure, the franchise power of Krrish, combined with Hrithik Roshan’s fan following, may deliver one of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters if executed well. Fans now eagerly await further announcements on casting, storyline, and production updates.
