Anushka Shetty’s much-awaited film Ghaati hit the screens after two years with considerable buzz, but the box office performance has fallen short of expectations. Despite the hype surrounding the release, the film opened to weak collections and average word of mouth, which further impacted its weekend earnings. With no significant growth during its first three days, the movie’s box office journey appears to be an uphill battle.
In the Nizam region, Ghaati managed to earn Rs 0.85 crore, while Ceded contributed Rs 0.12 crore. Andhra brought in Rs 0.65 crore, taking the total for AP and Telangana to Rs 1.62 crore. From the rest of India, the film earned Rs 0.15 crore, while overseas markets added Rs 0.24 crore. Other versions contributed Rs 0.11 crore, leading to a worldwide total of Rs 2.12 crore (share) at the end of its opening weekend.
The film’s break-even target stands at Rs 26 crore, which means Ghaati still needs to recover Rs 23.88 crore to avoid being termed a flop. While the talk is average, the film failed to capitalize on its release weekend, raising doubts about its weekday performance. With weekdays now critical for its fate, Ghaati’s box office run will largely depend on sustained audience support and word-of-mouth buzz.
Anushka’s comeback vehicle has not created the impact fans were hoping for. Unless the collections stabilize during the weekdays, the movie may face difficulty recovering its massive target and could end up as a disappointment at the ticket window.
