Sankranthi has always been one of the most celebrated and competitive seasons for Telugu cinema, and the upcoming Sankranthi 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest box office battles in recent years. With multiple star-studded films locking dates, theatre availability is already under heavy demand, and trade circles are predicting possible reshuffles in the final lineup.
Confirmed Sankranthi 2026 Releases
The first major entry is Megastar Chiranjeevi’s much-anticipated film Mana Siva Sankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The makers are confident about its timely release and have assured fans it will be a festive treat.
Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, initially planned for December 2025, has officially been pushed to January 9, 2026, aligning with the Sankranthi holidays. Directed by Maruthi, the film is currently in post-production and is expected to be one of the biggest crowd pullers of the season.
Joining the lineup is Naveen Polishetty’s comedy entertainer Anaganaga Oka Raju, co-starring Meenakshi Chaudhary. After facing earlier delays, the film is now back on track and ready for its festive release window.
Probable Entries And Tamil Biggies
Apart from the confirmed films, Ravi Teja’s 76th project with director Kishore Tirumala is likely to join the Sankranthi race. The film is nearing completion, and an official announcement is awaited. Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari is also tipped as another probable festive release.
On the Tamil front, two major films are set to arrive during the Pongal season. Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, which marks his final film, is carrying massive hype and will have a strong release in both Tamil Nadu and Telugu states. Sivakarthikeyan’s Parashakthi is also expected to compete for attention during the same period.
With Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, and Vijay all competing head-to-head, the Sankranthi 2026 lineup looks overcrowded. Trade experts believe that without strategic reshuffling, the situation could lead to heavy losses due to a shortage of screens. Fans, however, are excited for what promises to be a festive season packed with entertainment across multiple big-ticket films.
