Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Smashes Indian Box Office With ₹41 Crore Opening Weekend

Japanese anime phenomenon Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle has taken the Indian box office by storm, grossing a staggering ₹41 crore nett in its first weekend and around ₹50 crore gross. With this, the film has become the biggest non-Hollywood foreign film release in India, rewriting records for anime cinema in the country.

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the film adapts the popular Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s hit manga series (2016–2020). Fans across India thronged theatres, making it the most successful Japanese release in the country, far surpassing earlier anime hits like Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Suzume. Its massive pre-sales and weekend performance highlight the growing popularity of anime in India’s mainstream cinema landscape.

Infinity Castle is also shattering global records. In Japan, it has already crossed 69 billion yen, overtaking the legendary Mugen Train (54.5 billion yen) to become the highest-grossing Japanese film in history. North America remains its strongest international market with over $70 million, followed by Korea at $34.7 million and Taiwan at $24.5 million. Analysts expect it to become the biggest Japanese film in the US market by the next weekend.

With record collections both in India and abroad, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is proving to be more than just an anime release—it is a worldwide box office force. As fans continue to flock to theatres, the film is on track to cement itself as a global blockbuster that blends Japanese storytelling with universal appeal.
