Actor-filmmaker Dhanush is returning with his new film Idli Kadai, a heartwarming story of a man running a small idli shop, scheduled for release on October 1. Speaking at the trailer launch in Coimbatore, Dhanush admitted he has always been fascinated with cooking. “I don’t know why I keep getting chef roles. I wanted to cook, maybe that’s why I get such films,” he laughed. Over the years, audiences have seen him linked to food-related characters—whether making parottas in Jagame Thandiram, playing a delivery boy in Thiruchitrambalam, or running a fast-food joint in Raayan.

Dhanush also spoke about manifestation and how it continues to shape his career. “When I write a script, I often get a chef role. Even when directors approach me, I get similar stories. It’s the power of manifestation—what you think, you become,” he explained. He encouraged youth to visualize goals, believe in themselves, and work hard to achieve them. Idli Kadai, titled Idli Kottu in Telugu, features Nithya Menon alongside Dhanush, with music composed by GV Prakash.
