Mammootty’s Bramayugam To Screen At Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures In Los Angeles

Indian cinema continues to make its mark globally as the acclaimed Malayalam film Bramayugam, starring Mammootty, is set to screen at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on February 12, 2026. The film will be part of the museum’s series “Where the Forest Meets the Sea: Folklore from Around the World,” which runs from January 10 to February 12, 2026.

Written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam is a black-and-white psychological horror drama that delves into Kerala’s dark folklore. The film explores the depths of fear, power, and human frailty in a haunting narrative that has been widely praised for its atmospheric storytelling and visual mastery. Mammootty portrays Kodumon Potti, a mysterious figure shrouded in myth, supported by performances from Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, and Amalda Liz. The technical brilliance behind the film includes cinematography by Shehnad Jalal, music by Christo Xavier, production design by Jothish Shankar, and editing by Shafique Mohammed Ali.

Produced under the banners of Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios, Bramayugam marked the first release from Night Shift Studios, a banner dedicated to crafting films in the horror-thriller genre. Following its critical success, the studio released Dies Irae on October 31, 2025, again collaborating with director Rahul Sadasivan and the same core creative team. The screening of Bramayugam at the Academy Museum not only celebrates Indian craftsmanship but also reinforces the growing global appreciation for regional cinema that pushes artistic boundaries.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, stands as the world’s largest institution dedicated to the art and science of moviemaking. The inclusion of Bramayugam in its curated selection reflects the film’s universal resonance and the evolving recognition of Indian storytelling on the global stage.
