Don’t Cross the Limits: Shivaji’s Remarks on Heroines’ Dressing Spark Heated Debate

Don’t Cross the Limits: Shivaji’s Remarks on Heroines’ Dressing Spark Heated Debate

Senior actor Shivaji, who regained significant public attention after his stint on Bigg Boss Telugu and later impressed audiences with his intense negative role in Court, is once again in the spotlight, this time for his controversial remarks. Shivaji is currently busy with multiple projects, including his upcoming film Dandora, which is scheduled for release on the 25th of this month.

At the pre-release event of Dandora held on Monday night, Shivaji’s speech unexpectedly became the center of attention on social media. While addressing the audience, the actor made strong comments about the dressing styles of heroines, advising them not to cross limits in the name of glamour. His remarks quickly went viral, triggering intense discussions and criticism online.

Shivaji began his speech by appreciating anchor Prashanthi for attending the event dressed in a saree, praising her elegance and grace. He then broadened the discussion to speak about heroines and fashion choices in the film industry. According to him, beauty does not lie in revealing clothes but in dignity, grace, and self-respect. He stated that traditional or well-covered outfits enhance a woman’s charm far more than outfits that focus on exposing the body.

The actor further remarked that when actresses opt for what he termed inappropriate clothing, people may smile outwardly but silently question those choices. He added that such internal reactions are often misunderstood as opposition to women’s freedom, clarifying that his views were not meant to restrict independence but to highlight what he believes represents true beauty.

Shivaji also spoke emotionally about women and dignity, saying that a woman represents nature itself and that respect naturally follows grace. He recalled his mother as a lasting image of strength and elegance in his life and said that even today, many women carry themselves with balance and self-respect. He cited examples of actresses who made a strong impact on audiences while maintaining a balance between glamour and decency.

Emphasising that glamour is acceptable only up to a certain point, Shivaji argued that excess often distracts from talent and personality. He also pointed out that even on international platforms, women wearing sarees have won major beauty titles, suggesting that traditional attire carries global appeal and power.

However, his statements did not sit well with many sections of social media users, who accused him of moral policing and placing unnecessary restrictions on women’s choices. Several netizens argued that dressing is a personal decision and that linking dignity solely to clothing reinforces outdated stereotypes. Others, however, supported Shivaji’s views, saying he voiced an opinion shared silently by many.

As the debate continues to trend online, Shivaji’s comments have once again highlighted the ongoing clash between traditional values and modern expression within the film industry. Whether intended as advice or perceived as judgment, his remarks have undeniably sparked a larger conversation on glamour, freedom, and respect in cinema.
