Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi War Project Undergoes Major Changes and Tone Shift

Salman Khan recently shared a major update regarding his upcoming war film, now titled Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. Originally named Battle of Galwan, the film's title change signals a shift in focus and tone, moving away from purely depicting conflict to exploring the deeper emotional and human aspects of war. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, with Salman Khan playing the role of Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, who was involved in the historic conflict.

Although most of the shooting was completed in Ladakh in 2025, the production team has decided to reshoot several key scenes in Mumbai to reshape the narrative. This change aligns with the film’s new direction, which now aims to center on themes of peace, the emotional cost of war, and the impact it has on soldiers and their families.

In addition to the changes in the storyline, Maatrubhumi will feature a Chinese-language song composed by Himesh Reshammiya, adding a unique layer to the film's musical composition and enhancing the international appeal of the project.

These significant updates show that Maatrubhumi will be a more reflective and thought-provoking film compared to what was originally envisioned. Fans are eager to see how this shift will affect the film's tone and its reception at the box office, especially given the ongoing relevance of the subject matter.
