Bollywood’s favorite actor, Akshay Kumar, is all set to bring his fans another horror comedy with his upcoming film, Bhooth Bangla. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film brings a mix of spooky thrills and laughs, following the actor’s previous successes in the genre. The makers recently released the trailer, which features the signature humor of Priyadarshan’s style, while showcasing a story that looks to entertain with spooky fun.
The trailer of Bhooth Bangla is filled with nostalgia, using situational comedy and quirky characters to bring fun to the storyline. Akshay Kumar’s character inherits an old bungalow, which is surrounded by a haunted forest. Adding to the intrigue, the film takes a turn as Akshay’s character gets married in Mangalpur, a village with a reputation for avoiding weddings. The trailer presents the eerie elements of the house, balanced with lighthearted comedy, promising a spooky yet funny ride.
An exciting surprise in the trailer is Tabu’s presence, which adds an extra layer of intrigue to the film. Her role seems to have captured the audience’s attention, contributing to the mystery and excitement surrounding the film. While the trailer gives an impression of a fun and spooky journey, it also follows a routine, familiar horror comedy formula. The visuals of the haunted bungalow and quirky characters provide a nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of classic Bollywood horror-comedies.
However, the big question remains: will the audience be as excited for Bhooth Bangla as they are for other major releases, like Dhurandhar? Horror has long been a parallel genre in Bollywood, with many successful films over the years. But with changing audience preferences, it might not be an easy ride for Bhooth Bangla. The trend of horror comedies may still find favor with some, but it remains to be seen if this film can stand out among the crowd.
Bhooth Bangla is set to hit the screens on April 16, 2026, and will undoubtedly generate interest for its mix of horror and comedy, but it faces a challenge in keeping up with evolving audience tastes. Will it offer something fresh, or will it rely too heavily on the typical horror-comedy formula? Time will tell.
