Kartik Aaryan's Naagzilla Release Postponed to 2027
The release of Naagzilla, the much-anticipated fantasy comedy starring Kartik Aaryan, has reportedly been postponed. Originally scheduled for an Independence Day weekend release in August 2026, the film will now hit theatres on February 12, 2027, aligning with the Valentine’s Day weekend.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the update on X, announcing that Naagzilla will now be released in early 2027. The tweet read: "KARTIK AARYAN: 'NAAGZILLA' RELEASE DATE LOCKED – VALENTINE'S DAY 2027. Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films' upcoming film #Naagzilla, a creature comedy starring #KartikAaryan, is set to release on 12 Feb 2027 [#ValentineDay weekend]." Though the news has been confirmed by trade reports, the official announcement from the makers is still awaited.
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Naagzilla is a unique creature comedy inspired by Indian folklore. Kartik Aaryan takes on a distinctive role as Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, an icchadhari naag, a shapeshifting snake. The film promises a mix of fantasy, humor, and cultural elements, marking a significant departure from Kartik’s usual on-screen persona.
Produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, Naagzilla was initially set for release on August 14, 2026, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. With the shift, the film will now be released in a prime romantic time slot on Valentine's Day weekend 2027. Reports indicate that the makers shared the update via a press note.
Kartik Aaryan, who was last seen in Tu Meri Main Tera (2025) alongside Ananya Panday, has multiple upcoming projects. Despite the modest box office run of Tu Meri Main Tera, Kartik remains in high demand, with exciting collaborations in the pipeline with directors Anurag Basu and Kabir Khan.
