Interestingly, the original Jailer, released in 2023, had secured around ₹75 crore for its digital rights, making this deal more than double the previous figure.
Though there has been no official confirmation from the production house Sun Pictures, known for maintaining strict confidentiality, trade circles believe the numbers carry credibility. The success of the first installment, which grossed over ₹600 crore worldwide, along with Rajinikanth’s enduring star power, has significantly boosted expectations for the sequel. Industry insiders suggest that such a massive OTT deal could help the makers recover a large portion of the film’s budget even before its theatrical release.
The reported deal also draws comparisons with the buzz around Spirit, the upcoming film starring Prabhas and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which was earlier rumoured to have secured a similar OTT valuation. Jailer 2 will see Rajinikanth reprise his iconic role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with returning cast members including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Vinayakan. The sequel also brings in S.
