The excitement surrounding Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey has escalated following the release of a new trailer from Universal Pictures. The trailer offers a thrilling glimpse into Nolan's take on Homer’s classic Greek epic, with Matt Damon leading the charge as Odysseus. The trailer centers on a dramatic confrontation between Odysseus and the Cyclops, highlighting the scale and tension that Nolan is known for.
Robert Pattinson also makes his mark in the trailer, playing Antinous, a suitor vying for the throne of Ithaca in the absence of Odysseus. The trailer teases a sweeping narrative that combines mythological elements, political intrigue, and personal stakes. As Odysseus navigates treacherous terrain and battles the Cyclops, unrest brews in Ithaca, setting the stage for an emotionally charged storyline.
The trailer debuted on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, generating significant buzz ahead of the film’s July 17 release. Alongside Damon, the ensemble cast includes Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Athena, and Charlize Theron as Circe, adding depth and star power to the project.
Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey is poised to be his 13th feature film as director. The film is also notable for its technical ambition, as it is set to become the first narrative film to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras.
