The controversy around Ranveer Singh and Don 3 has become one of the biggest talking points in Bollywood. The issue gained more attention after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees reportedly issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor following a complaint linked to the film.
The project was announced in 2023 by Excel Entertainment, headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Ranveer Singh was introduced as the new face of the iconic Don franchise, a role earlier made popular by Shah Rukh Khan. The announcement received mixed reactions, with some fans excited about the new casting and others strongly attached to Shah Rukh Khan’s version.
The film also went through several casting changes. Kiara Advani was initially associated with the project but later exited, after which Kriti Sanon was reportedly brought in as the female lead. Vikrant Massey was also said to be part of the film as the antagonist, but he too reportedly stepped away from the project.
Creative Differences And Reported Financial Losses
The film faced repeated delays due to scheduling conflicts and other production-related issues. Reports claimed that Ranveer was busy with Dhurandhar, while Farhan Akhtar was occupied with 120 Bahadur. Later, alleged creative differences between Ranveer and the makers reportedly led to the actor’s sudden exit from Don 3.
His departure is said to have caused major financial losses to the producers. Reports claimed that Excel Entertainment sought compensation of nearly Rs 40 crore to Rs 45 crore from Ranveer Singh. However, the actor reportedly refused to pay the amount.
The matter was later taken to the Producers Guild of India, where several senior industry figures reportedly tried to help resolve the dispute.
In April, Farhan Akhtar filed a complaint with FWICE. On May 25, 2026, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashok Pandit announced a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh.
Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson later said the actor has deep respect for the film fraternity and has chosen to remain silent, believing such matters should be handled with dignity and maturity.
The Don 3 controversy has now sparked a wider debate in Bollywood about professional commitments, creative disagreements, producer losses, and actor accountability. The issue remains unresolved, and the future of Don 3 is still uncertain.
