Jana Nayagan has crossed Rs 20 crore in domestic advance bookings, including blocked seats, with nearly seven lakh opening-day tickets sold.
Advance Bookings Cross Rs 20 Crore Before Release
Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has crossed Rs 20 crore in domestic opening-day advance bookings, including blocked seats, ahead of its theatrical release on July 23.
According to Sacnilk’s booking tracker, the political action drama had earned approximately Rs 15.44 crore through confirmed ticket sales, while the total rose to around Rs 21.26 crore after blocked seats were included. Nearly 6.7 lakh tickets had been sold across more than 9,000 shows at the time of the update.
The Tamil version accounts for the overwhelming majority of bookings, while the Telugu and Hindi versions have recorded a comparatively modest response. Standard 2D screenings are also contributing almost the entire advance-booking total.
State-Wise Sales Show Strong Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu Demand
Tamil Nadu remains one of the film’s most important markets, supported by high occupancy in Chennai and strong bookings across Coimbatore, Madurai and other cities.
Karnataka has also delivered impressive numbers, largely because of Vijay’s popularity in Bengaluru. Kerala has registered encouraging advances, indicating that Jana Nayagan is attracting strong interest across the southern states.
Earlier booking reports showed Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala driving the film’s early sales immediately after reservations opened. The numbers are expected to increase further as additional shows are added during the final hours before release.
Leo and GOAT Records Remain Ahead
Despite its strong pre-sales, Jana Nayagan remains behind Vijay’s previous releases Leo and The Greatest of All Time at a comparable stage.
Leo reportedly completed its domestic Day 1 advance booking with approximately Rs 46.36 crore, excluding blocked seats, while GOAT recorded around Rs 29.83 crore. Jana Nayagan’s current performance is therefore impressive but has not yet matched those two films.
The comparison may change during the final booking surge, particularly if more theatres open reservations in Tamil Nadu. Advance-booking figures are also not final box-office collections and can vary depending on blocked seats, cancelled bookings and updated show counts.
Release Buzz Grows Around Vijay’s Final Film
Jana Nayagan carries unusual emotional and political importance because it is being promoted as Vijay’s final film before he focuses fully on politics. The film will also release while he is serving as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Directed by H Vinoth and produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, the film stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain and Nassar.
The film was initially planned for a January release but faced a delay of several months because of certification and legal complications. It also suffered an unauthorised online leak before eventually confirming July 23 as its worldwide release date.
Despite those challenges and an A certificate, advance bookings remain strong. The final hours before release will determine whether Jana Nayagan can move closer to GOAT and Leo while delivering one of the year’s biggest Tamil cinema openings.
