HYDERABAD: Nandamuri Mokshagna’s much-awaited entry into Telugu cinema appears to be moving forward, with filmmaker Vassishta reportedly finalised to direct his debut film. The project is expected to receive an official announcement around Dasara, while shooting could begin shortly after the festival. Pre-production work is already said to be underway as the team prepares for the launch.
Mokshagna Debut Gets Fresh Momentum With Vassishta
Mokshagna’s film debut has remained one of the most discussed launches among Nandamuri fans, with several filmmakers linked to the project over the past few years. The latest industry reports suggest Vassishta, known for Bimbisara and currently associated with Vishwambhara, has now been chosen to introduce Mokshagna as a lead actor.
The development has once again generated interest around the actor’s entry, particularly because fans have been waiting for clarity on when the project would finally move into production. While an official statement from the family or production team is still awaited, multiple reports now point towards Vassishta taking charge.
Mokshagna Dasara Announcement Expected For Debut Film
According to reports, the makers are planning to unveil the project during the Dasara festive period. Shooting is likely to begin after the announcement, giving the team time to complete casting, technical preparations and other pre-production requirements.
The announcement was reportedly considered earlier but was delayed following Balakrishna’s injury. With preparations continuing behind the scenes, Dasara is now being discussed as the likely window for formally launching Mokshagna’s first film.
Mokshagna Moves On From Earlier Prasanth Varma Project
Mokshagna was previously announced in a project with HanuMan director Prasanth Varma. That film generated considerable buzz when first revealed, but its launch faced repeated delays and the collaboration eventually failed to move ahead as initially planned. Earlier reports had linked the uncertainty to creative and scheduling developments surrounding the project.
The reported move to Vassishta therefore marks a significant reset for Mokshagna’s launch plans. Rather than reviving the earlier film, the focus now appears to be on developing a new project specifically designed to establish him as a mainstream Telugu cinema lead.
Mokshagna Launch Becomes Major Nandamuri Fan Event
As the son of Nandamuri Balakrishna and grandson of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, Mokshagna’s debut carries major expectations. Industry observers have previously noted that the family has been cautious about selecting the right script and filmmaker for his launch.
If the Dasara announcement goes ahead as reported, it could finally end years of speculation surrounding Mokshagna’s first film. Attention will now turn to the heroine, production banner, music director, genre and release plans. For Nandamuri fans, however, confirmation of Vassishta as director would itself mark the biggest step yet toward seeing Mokshagna on the big screen.
