Prabhas highly anticipated period drama Fauzi will not arrive in cinemas on December 3, 2026, as previously announced. The makers have officially confirmed that the film has been postponed, although they have not revealed a revised theatrical release date. Industry reports indicate that the large-scale production could now reach theatres sometime in 2027.
Producer Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers confirmed the postponement during the pre-release event of Nani’s The Paradise on September 21. He explained that the project was being pushed back slightly and assured fans that the additional time would help the team complete the ambitious film without compromising its scale or quality.
Fauzi makers promise a grand Prabhas spectacle
Ravi Shankar described Fauzi as a next-level cinematic experience and said Prabhas would be presented with a level of grandeur not seen since Baahubali. While apologising for the delay, the producer expressed confidence that audiences would cherish the film for years.
The statement has raised expectations surrounding the project, which is being mounted as an expansive period drama. The production reportedly requires extensive filming and detailed post-production work, making additional time necessary before it can be prepared for a worldwide theatrical release.
Fauzi was initially scheduled to open on December 3, one day before Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma and Dulquer Salmaan’s Sri Sri. Its postponement removes a major contender from the crowded December release calendar and gives the other films more room at the box office.
The makers are yet to clarify whether Fauzi will arrive in the first or second half of 2027. An official announcement is expected after the production team assesses the remaining filming and post-production schedule.
Hanu Raghavapudi leads the period drama
Fauzi is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, who previously earned acclaim for the romantic period drama Sita Ramam. The combination of his visual storytelling and Prabhas’ pan-India popularity has made the project one of the most closely watched upcoming Telugu films.
Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar are producing the film under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, while Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series Films is presenting it. The cast includes Imanvi Esmail, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher and Sajjad Delafrooz alongside Prabhas.
The film also marks Prabhas’ return to a period setting following several big-budget projects, including Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, Kalki 2898 AD and The Raja Saab. The actor is simultaneously associated with Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and co-starring Triptii Dimri, which is currently scheduled for March 2027.
With Fauzi now moving away from its December slot, fans will have to wait for a fresh announcement from the makers. The revised date is likely to depend on the completion of filming, visual effects and other post-production requirements necessary for the movie’s large-scale presentation.
