Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is drawing major interest from film distributors ahead of its planned October 15, 2026, release. Producer Naga Vamsi has reportedly acquired the film’s theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for ₹45 crore, according to a trade report. The figure has not been announced by the film’s makers or independently confirmed.
The reported deal reflects the expectations surrounding Rajinikanth’s sequel in the Telugu states. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is set to arrive during a crowded October release window, making its opening weekend and audience response especially important to distributors.
Jailer 2 overseas rights add to the reported stakes
The same report says Shloka Entertainments has acquired overseas distribution rights covering North America, the UK, Europe, Africa, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It values those rights at approximately ₹47.5 crore. Added to the reported ₹45 crore Telugu states deal, the two figures total about ₹92.5 crore.
North America alone is reportedly valued at ₹28 crore, with an estimated break-even target of around $7 million for that territory. These are trade estimates, and a rights price does not represent money already earned at the box office. Actual returns will depend on ticket sales and the terms of the distribution agreements.
The large reported valuations show the confidence distributors are placing in Rajinikanth’s appeal. They also raise the commercial stakes: Jailer 2 will need sustained audience interest after its opening to meet the recovery targets being discussed in trade circles.
October releases set up a busy Telugu box office
Jailer 2 is scheduled to open on October 15, one day before Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali, which is slated for October 16. Their back-to-back releases could create strong competition for screens and showtimes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The month is busy even before that clash. Venkatesh and Trivikram’s Adarsha Kutumbam AK47 is scheduled for October 9. With several prominent films arriving within a week, theatres and distributors will be watching advance bookings, opening collections and word of mouth closely.
For Jailer 2, the reported ₹45 crore Telugu rights deal is an early measure of trade expectations. Its box office performance will determine whether those expectations translate into returns when the film reaches cinemas.
