Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha Trailer Unveiled
The trailer of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha has been released ahead of the film’s nationwide theatrical debut on September 25. The devotional drama will arrive simultaneously in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi, presenting the journey of Lord Ram through themes of love, faith, dignity, duty and righteousness.
Dev Sharma plays Lord Ram, while Anjali Arora makes her feature-film debut as Goddess Sita. Rajniesh Duggall portrays Ravan, with Sheel Verma appearing as Lakshman and Nirbhay Wadhwa playing Hanuman. Directed by Abhishek Singh, the film places the emotional and spiritual essence of the Ramayan at the centre of its storytelling.
Trailer highlights Ramayan’s defining moments
The two-minute-and-43-second trailer moves through several important episodes, including the bond between Ram and Sita, their journey into exile, Sita Haran, Hanuman’s unwavering devotion and the eventual confrontation between dharm and adharm.
Instead of relying entirely on spectacle, the film appears to focus on the emotions and values associated with each character. Director Abhishek Singh said the team wanted audiences to experience Ram’s restraint and righteousness, Sita’s inner strength, Hanuman’s devotion and Lakshman’s dedication.
Dev Sharma described portraying Lord Ram as a major responsibility because the character is revered by millions. He said compassion, duty, restraint and maryada guided his performance. Anjali Arora said she approached Sita with sensitivity, focusing on her dignity, faith and determination during difficult circumstances.
Devotional music strengthens the emotional appeal
Music plays a prominent role in the trailer, with chants of Jai Shri Ram supporting its dramatic visuals. Singers associated with the Hindi and Chhattisgarhi soundtrack include Kailash Kher, Javed Ali, Farhad Bhiwandiwala, Anurag Sharma and Sunil Soni.
Three songs, Siya Ram, Ram Ji Ki Sena and Hey Hanuman, have already been released, while additional music is expected before the film reaches cinemas. Several portions were filmed at real locations across Chhattisgarh, bringing the state’s natural landscapes into the film’s mythological world.
Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, co-produced by Honey Kuldeep Agarwal and Monika Sen, and presented by Ajay Kanojia of AJ Film Entertainment World. The film will open in theatres across India on September 25.
