Buffalo Bayou Park is a 160-acre linear park along Buffalo Bayou between Sabine Street and Shepherd Drive featuring open green spaces and lawns, gardens, natural landscaping, hike and bike trails, footpaths, and trail lighting. Buffalo Bayou Park is also home to the Cistern, a decommissioned former drinking water reservoir for the City of Houston which now hosts history tours, art installations, and performances. Founded in 1986, Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s (BBP) geographic focus is the 10-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou from Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin and includes projects such as Buffalo Bayou Park, Sesquicentennial Park, and Buffalo Bayou East.
