San Miguel Cabin is a private 80-acre mountain cabin property located at 9,400 feet elevation in Conejos County in south-central Colorado hidden away in the easter desert canyons of the San Juan Mountain Range. The 80-acre property is surrounded by Rio Grande National Forest and Hot Creek State Wildlife Area; it as part of a 240-acre in-holding that is completely surrounded by national forest and protected state wildlife areas. The property has exclusive access through a private land easement as well as exclusive access through Hot Creek State Wildlife Area during seasons when it is closed to public access. San Miguel offers private, secluded camping, hiking, and hunting as well as exclusive access to hundreds of thousands of acres of protected state and national forest and wildlife areas. San Miguel has an exclusive private trail that decends from the cabin to Poso Creek Canyon, a seasonal creek that runs through the property. Poso Creek, along with neighboring canyons within hiking distance, have scarce natural springs with lush meadows that offer a precious water to wildlife year round. The property has stunning views both of Poso Creek Canyon (to the west) as well as views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (to the east) from the highest point on the property. There are multiple incredible locations for building future cabins, including a location that has a view of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range across San Luis Valley.
SAN MIGUEL CABIN
San Miguel features a 480 square foot insulated mountain cabin surrounded by ponderosa pines, douglas firs and granite boulders. The property features beautiful, secluded, private views of the canyons, mountains, and meadows in the surrounding national park. The cabin is constructed above ground level and includes steel roof, propane stove and heating, solar lighting and water pump, indoor sink, outdoor enclosed shower, a bunk room that sleeps eight, and an outhouse. The San Miguel Cabin is nestled in high mountain ponderosa pines, aspen groves and granite boulders. The cabin is a tidy and efficient 480 square foot (12 x 40) elevated framed building with steel roof. It is insulated and features a living area and a separate bunk room. The living area has a top-of-the-line propane stove, utility sink with solar-powered water pump, dining table, and shelving throughout for storage. The bunk room sleeps up to eight with comfortable mattresses and has storage shelves. The cabin also features propane wall heaters and lighting as well as solar lighting and water pump. The cabin also features a 300-foot zipline with a unique experience of flying between massive ponderosa pine trees and over granite boulders. Zip line equipment including safety equipment is included with the property.
THE WILDLIFE
The property and surrounding terrain is a mountain medley of granite canyons, spring-fed natural springs, towering ponderosa pines, douglas and white fir trees, aspen groves, and granite boulders. The arid mountain ecosystem with natural spring oases are home to rocky mountain elk, mule deer, black bear, merriam's turkey, dusky grouse, and greater sage grouse.
