Exclusive Interview: Natural Star Nani Talks HIT 3, Brutal Action, and Emotional Depth

You traveled across the country for HIT 3 promotions. How was the public response?
Nani: The response has been fantastic. From shoot locations to promotional events, the energy has been very positive. Audiences are clearly excited and are already fixated on watching the film, which gives us a lot of joy.

HIT 3’s teaser and trailer showcase a lot of violence. What kind of movie can audiences expect?
Nani: It’s an intense crime-action thriller. Violence in this film isn’t added for shock value it’s organic to the storyline. The action is stylish, gripping, and emotionally rooted. It's not disturbing; it’s cinematic and satisfying like in Salaar, but with more emotional intensity.

You usually cater to a family audience. Do you think the violence might alienate that base?
Nani: I don’t think so. This is a genre-specific film, and the target audience will definitely connect with it. The advance bookings are proof that viewers are ready to experience something new. If the content is exciting, people will come to theaters regardless of genre.

From boy-next-door to intense roles, how do you view your journey?
Nani: I don’t see it as a transformation. I enjoy exploring new genres Hi NannaJerseyDasara, and now HIT 3. I’m just trying to offer variety and challenge myself with every role.

What was it like working with DOP Shan Verghese?
Nani: Shan is a storyteller with his camera. Every frame he composes carries meaning and enhances emotion. His visuals have brought a lot of impact to this film.

Mickey J. Meyer has never composed for a thriller. Why did you choose him?
Nani: That’s exactly why I chose him. I wanted something fresh and unexpected. Mickey has brought a unique sound to this film. His background score gives the film a new edge.

Part of the film was shot in Pahalgam. How was that experience?
Nani: We shot for 18 days in different parts of Pahalgam. Unfortunately, we faced emotional moments, including the passing of a crew member due to illness. Those events deeply affected us, but also brought the team closer.

What role does Srinidhi Shetty play and how was it working with her?
Nani: Every character in HIT 3 has a defined purpose, and Srinidhi performed her role excellently. She was also very supportive during promotions. She’s definitely a great addition to the film.

Was it difficult to come out of such an intense character?
Nani: Not really. If the process excites me, it doesn’t feel hard. I enjoy my work, so I don't feel drained or weighed down by such roles.

Why did you personally take up HIT 3?
Nani: The subject needed me. And honestly, once you watch the film, you’ll understand why I was the right choice for this story.

Rajamouli has supported the HIT franchise consistently. How do you feel about that?
Nani: Rajamouli Garu is like family. The fact that he took time out to attend our event despite his packed schedule meant a lot to us. He’s been chief guest for all three HIT movies now we’re wondering how we’ll manage without him at the next one! (laughs)

With so many releases around, how do you view competition?
Nani: Healthy competition is good. If all films do well, the industry thrives. We want everyone’s films to succeed because that uplifts everyone in the business.

What kind of emotions can the audience expect from HIT 3?
Nani: There’s a strong emotional thread in the story, especially around a promise. It holds the narrative beautifully and creates a powerful emotional high.

HIT 3 vs earlier films in the franchise what's the difference?
Nani: This is a whole new world compared to the previous two. The scale, intensity, and style are completely different. The trailer and teaser already show this difference.

Director Sailesh Kolanu is known for intense films. Any lighter side to him?
Nani: Absolutely. He’s actually full of humor in real life. I keep telling him he should write a comedy he’d do a great job with that!
