Ram Charan, currently promoting his film Gamechanger and gearing up for RC16, recently made headlines for his visit to the Kadapa Dargah in Ayyappa Mala attire. The visit was in line with a promise made to music composer AR Rahman and was also part of his attendance at the National Mushaira Ghazal event. However, the timing of his visit drew mixed reactions, particularly from Ayyappa devotees and the Hindi community. Some felt it was inappropriate for Charan to visit the Dargah while observing Ayyappa Mala, a religious vow.

In response to the criticism, Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana, defended the visit by sharing a picture of his time at the Dargah. In her post, she expressed that “Faith unites, never divides,” and emphasized that respecting different religions is a core value, stating, “As Indians, we honor all paths to the divine; our strength lies in unity.” She also included hashtags like #OneNationOneSpirit and #jaihind, reinforcing the importance of religious unity.

Despite her defense, several netizens criticized the visit, arguing that respecting other religions doesn’t justify attending a Dargah while in Ayyappa Mala. Upasana responded to one such comment by sharing the story of the Vavar mosque, a symbol of religious harmony, where Ayyappa devotees stop to offer respect before beginning their pilgrimage to Sabarimala. The Vavar mosque represents the peaceful coexistence of Hindus and Muslims, supporting the idea of unity amidst diversity.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ram Charan is set to begin filming his next project with director Buchi Babu in Mysore in the coming days.
