Bridge7, a newly launched Los Angeles-based production company, has secured the film sequel and television rights to the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The acquisition was made from UK-based production company Celador, which originally co-produced the film with Film4. Founded by producer Swati Shetty and veteran CAA agent Grant Kessman, Bridge7 is poised to develop both a sequel and a television series inspired by the original movie, which was directed by Danny Boyle and based on Vikas Swarup's novel Q & A.

The gripping drama Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel), a young man from the slums of Mumbai who competes on the Indian quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati and astounds everyone by answering every question correctly, eventually winning a massive cash prize. However, he's suspected of cheating and recounts his tumultuous life story, which offers answers to the questions he faced.

The film received widespread acclaim, earning eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. It also won numerous BAFTA and Golden Globe awards, establishing Slumdog Millionaire as one of the most celebrated films of the 21st century. Dev Patel's breakthrough performance, along with a stellar cast that included Freida Pinto, Madhur Mittal, Anil Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan, contributed to the film's global success.

Bridge7's acquisition signals an exciting future for the Slumdog Millionaire story. Swati Shetty and Grant Kessman shared their enthusiasm, highlighting how the film's universal themes of perseverance, fate, and human connection resonate across cultures and will continue to do so in new adaptations.
