Suhas debuts in Tamil Cinema with gritty role in Mandaadi
RS Infotainment, the renowned production house behind several Tamil hits, returns to the spotlight with its latest project, Mandaadi a gritty sports-action drama that promises raw emotion, intense performances, and powerful storytelling. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, who earned acclaim for his debut Selfie, the film stars acclaimed actors Soori and Suhas in pivotal roles. While Soori has reinvented himself as a serious performer in recent years, stepping away from comic roles to take on more layered and grounded characters, the biggest buzz around Mandaadi comes from Telugu actor Suhas, who is making his Tamil cinema debut with this project.

The first look posters of Suhas have left fans stunned and intrigued. In one of the standout visuals, Suhas appears in a rugged, almost unrecognizable avatar sporting grey hair, a traditional lungi, and a gritty attitude, as he stands on a breezy beach with a group identified as the “Tsunami Riders.” Behind him lies a boat, hinting at a coastal setting and possibly high-stakes water-based action sequences. The raw aesthetic and natural elements reinforce the film’s grounded tone. In a second poster, Suhas and Soori are seen steering boats, facing off with unwavering intensity in their eyes. The image sets the tone for what appears to be a powerful narrative filled with conflict, survival, pride, and deeply personal stakes. It’s not just a battle on water it’s a battle of emotions, resilience, and rival ideologies.

Suhas, known for his nuanced performances in Telugu cinema (Color Photo, Writer Padmabhushan), steps into a darker shade as the main antagonist in Mandaadi. His character, from the glimpses shown, seems multi-layered combining brute strength with emotional depth. This role could potentially be a game-changer for Suhas as he ventures into Kollywood.
Soori, who won critical acclaim for his performance in Viduthalai, continues his streak of serious, content-driven cinema. In Mandaadi, he leads the narrative from the opposite end of Suhas' character, setting up a compelling face-off that could be one of the film’s key highlights.

Joining the lead pair is a stellar supporting cast that includes Tamil cinema veteran Sathyaraj, along with Ravindra Vijay and Achyuth Kumar, both of whom have a strong presence in regional cinema. Their inclusion adds gravitas and emotional layering to the film, which is expected to go beyond just the sports genre and explore themes of community, power, and perseverance. The production values of Mandaadi are reportedly top-notch, with real locations, coastal backdrops, and intense action sequences forming the backbone of the film’s visual style. The film is being shot on a grand scale to authentically capture the raw energy of its subject matter. With its gripping visuals, an unconventional antagonist, and an emotionally charged narrative, Mandaadi is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Tamil films on the horizon. The first look has already triggered strong buzz on social media, and fans are eagerly waiting for more updates including teaser releases, music composer announcements, and the official release date.
