Salman Khan to Play Colonel Santosh Babu in Biopic

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is all set to bring the story of real-life hero Colonel B. Santosh Babu to the big screen in an upcoming patriotic biopic. According to reports from Hindi media outlets, the film is inspired by the best-selling book India’s Most Fearless 3 by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, and will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia.

Colonel Santosh Babu was martyred in June 2020 during the Galwan Valley Clash while leading Indian troops against the Chinese Red Army. The brave officer from Suryapet, Telangana became a national symbol of courage and leadership. The decision to depict his life and sacrifice on screen has already evoked emotional reactions from the public, especially in his hometown, where people have expressed pride and gratitude that such a hero is being honored. Salman Khan, known for portraying high-octane action roles with emotional depth, will begin shooting in July 2025. The shoot is expected to span 70 days, with key schedules planned in Ladakh and Mumbai, capturing the stark contrast of battlefield grit and family life. While the film is inspired by India’s Most Fearless 3, the screenplay is being crafted by a strong writing team including Suresh Nair, Chintan Gandhi, and Chintan Shah. The film is expected to showcase both the professional valor and personal journey of the late Colonel, offering a compelling mix of action, emotion, and patriotism.

Originally, Salman was preparing to shoot Sikandar, a film being considered for Eid 2025 release. However, sources suggest he has now prioritized this army-action biopic, recognizing the cultural and emotional impact it could have. While still untitled, the project has already generated strong anticipation as it aligns with Salman’s previous portrayals of uniformed characters. This won’t be Salman Khan’s first military portrayal. He played Army Havaldar Balkar Singh in the 2008 drama Heroes and took on the role of a RAW agent in the Tiger franchise, including Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). These films, though fictional, carried strong patriotic and humanitarian themes making his upcoming portrayal of a real-life martyr even more significant.

With patriotic biopics resonating deeply with Indian audiences, especially when grounded in real events like the Galwan Valley clash, Salman Khan’s role as Colonel Santosh Babu could serve as a powerful cinematic tribute. The film is expected to bring national attention to a modern hero whose courage inspired the country in one of its most tense military stand-offs in recent years. As the project gains momentum, official announcements on the film’s title, supporting cast, and release window are expected in the coming months. One thing is certain this film will not just be about war, but about honor, sacrifice, and the legacy of a soldier who gave everything for the nation.
