Shashtipoorthi Promises Emotions and Elegance: Rupeysh
In a time when high-octane action and flashy narratives dominate the Telugu film industry, the upcoming film Shashtipoorthi seeks to deliver a breath of fresh air. Actor and producer Rupeysh is spearheading this emotional family drama that emphasizes timeless values and heartfelt storytelling. Releasing on May 30 under the banner of MAA AAIE Productions, the film features an ensemble cast including veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, seasoned actress Archana, and Aakanksha Singh. The directorial reins are held by Pavan Prabha, while music maestro Ilaiyaraaja and acclaimed art director Thota Tharani have lent their legendary talents to the project.
Rupeysh, speaking to the media as part of the film’s promotions, emphasized that the story’s emotional depth and honesty are what attracted major talents to the project. He shared that the narrative may be fictional, but audiences will see a reflection of their own lives in the characters. He noted that most films today shy away from showing genuine love and family values, but Shashtipoorthi aims to change that by offering all kinds of emotions from subtle romance to deep familial bonds.
Ilaiyaraaja's contribution to the music, including a standout number sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja, adds another layer of emotion to the film. Rupeysh mentioned that the team went the extra mile with rehearsals and workshops, and the budget was intentionally stretched to accommodate top-tier technicians. None of the senior talents demanded high remuneration, instead, they were drawn by the sincerity of the story. Rupeysh also clarified that there were no disputes with Ilaiyaraaja, dismissing rumors and praising the legendary composer for providing multiple versions of each song. The production house, named after Rupeysh’s late mother, reflects his personal commitment and emotional connection to the film.
With non-theatrical business already showing promise, the team plans for a wide theatrical release in Telugu states followed by an overseas rollout. Shashtipoorthi could turn out to be the emotional film Telugu audiences didn’t know they were missing a project backed by legacy, heart, and cinematic sincerity.
