Simbu, Vetri Maaran Film Begins : Nelson Joins Cameo

Actor Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, has officially started shooting for his highly anticipated film with acclaimed director Vetri Maaran. A leaked photo from the shooting spot has already created buzz on social media, featuring Simbu, Vetri Maaran, and a surprising presence director Nelson Dilipkumar of Jailer and Doctor fame.

Sources close to the production confirmed that Nelson will appear in a cameo role in this yet-untitled film. The shooting has commenced with a promo shoot, and principal photography is set to begin in the coming weeks. Interestingly, the film is reportedly set in the gritty world of Vada Chennai, Vetri Maaran’s cult gangster saga starring Dhanush.

Joining Nelson in cameo appearances are actors Kavin and Manikandan, both of whom have been gaining popularity in recent years. The film will also feature actors from Vada Chennai including Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, and Kishore—indicating strong narrative continuity from the 2018 classic.

This collaboration marks an exciting full-circle moment for fans of Tamil cinema. Years ago, Simbu was initially considered for the lead role in Vada Chennai before the project moved forward with Dhanush. Now, he returns to the same cinematic universe in what promises to be a gritty, character-driven story set in North Madras.

Though the official title and plot details remain under wraps, the return to the Vada Chennai world has reignited fan interest in a potential sequel or spin-off. Vetri Maaran has previously hinted at expanding the universe through web series or standalone stories. During a recent public appearance, Dhanush also assured fans that Vada Chennai 2 will happen, fueling anticipation for how this new film may tie into future developments. An official announcement is expected soon, but the current updates have already set the stage for one of Tamil cinema’s most awaited projects of 2025.
