Madhoo Supports Deepika’s Exit from Spirit: Personal Choice

Actor Madhoo Shah has publicly supported Deepika Padukone’s decision to exit Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film Spirit. Deepika, who was set to star alongside Prabhas, chose to step away after her requests related to work conditions were not met by the film’s makers. Madhoo explained that this was Deepika’s personal choice and that such decisions should not be a subject of debate.

In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Madhoo emphasized that negotiations are a normal part of the film industry and that actors must stand firm on their worth. She said Deepika requested an eight-hour workday, profit sharing, and exemption from Telugu dialogues, but these conditions were not accepted by the director and producers. Madhoo added that if Deepika had been willing to compromise or accept other terms, the deal would have gone through. However, since she chose not to, it should be respected as her personal decision.

Madhoo further highlighted the importance of respecting women’s choices in the industry, praising Deepika and other actresses who are challenging conventional norms. According to her, women demanding better work conditions pave the way for future generations, encouraging a shift towards more supportive and flexible working environments.

She also pointed out that when one project doesn’t accommodate an actor’s requests, there are always other opportunities willing to do so. “If she wants an eight-hour workday, other filmmakers will be ready to take her on those terms,” Madhoo explained. Currently, Madhoo is preparing for her upcoming Telugu film Kannappa, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar.

Madhoo’s comments provide insight into ongoing conversations about actors’ rights, working conditions, and the evolving landscape of the Indian film industry. Deepika’s exit from Spirit may have caused ripples, but it has also sparked a necessary dialogue on respect and negotiation within film projects.
