Abhishek Bachchan Recalls Amitabh’s Journey from Critic to Biggest Supporter

Abhishek Bachchan Recalls Amitabh’s Journey from Critic to Biggest Supporter

Abhishek Bachchan has shared heartfelt memories of his relationship with his father, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, revealing how his father, once his harshest critic, is now his biggest supporter. The actor reminisced about the evolution of their bond, acknowledging that his father’s honest feedback shaped his career and continues to inspire him today.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Abhishek recalled how his father, who had been a tough critic in the early stages of his career, has become more emotionally expressive and supportive in recent years. He described Amitabh as an "overzealous, emotional father" who now openly expresses his pride, especially through public social media praise. Abhishek admitted that receiving praise from his father, who had once been critical of his performances, like in Yuva, holds a special meaning.

He shared an emotional moment when Amitabh texted him after watching the trailer of his ZEE5 original, Kaalidhar Laapata, saying it moved him to tears. Despite feeling embarrassed about his response, Abhishek explained that simply receiving recognition from his idol was enough. He recalled the difficulties of his earlier years, particularly the critical feedback he received from Amitabh after his performance in Yuva, which he admitted was not as natural as it could have been.

Abhishek also opened up about his first-ever on-screen experience with his father in Sarkar, where he was nervous to act alongside the legendary actor. He recalled how Amitabh, after the shoot, pointed out that despite all his hard work, he still had much to learn about delivering lines.

Despite their moments of criticism, Abhishek described the experience of having his father as both a mentor and a source of support as invaluable. Amitabh’s constant feedback and expectations have pushed him to improve continuously. Abhishek’s admiration for his father’s influence on his life and career is clear, and he feels grateful for the mentorship that has guided him along the way.

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan will be starring in Kaalidhar Laapata, a ZEE5 original film about a man grappling with memory loss, whose life takes an unexpected turn after meeting a young orphan. The emotional drama will premiere on July 4, offering another powerful performance from the actor.
