Jana Nayagan advance booking has crossed Rs 10.60 crore, with more than 4.35 lakh opening-day tickets reportedly sold across India. Strong demand from Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru and Kerala has positioned Vijay’s delayed political action drama for a major July 23 opening.
Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has crossed Rs 10.60 crore in tracked opening-day advance bookings in India within hours of ticket sales expanding across key markets. Directed by H Vinoth, the political action drama will arrive in theatres on Thursday, July 23, 2026, after a lengthy delay linked to certification and legal issues.
More than 4.35 lakh tickets were reportedly sold across 4,314 shows by Sunday morning. The film reached the milestone even though bookings had not opened fully at several premium centres, leaving room for further growth before release day.
Tamil Nadu has contributed approximately Rs 4.87 crore, making it the film’s strongest state market. Karnataka follows with about Rs 3.04 crore, supported by major demand in Bengaluru, while Kerala has added nearly Rs 1.69 crore.
Bengaluru alone has generated around Rs 3.01 crore, close to 30 per cent of the nationwide tracked total. Chennai has registered about Rs 1.18 crore with occupancy above 86 per cent, while Coimbatore has added Rs 67.16 lakh. Hyderabad, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi have also posted encouraging numbers.
Advance bookings in Bengaluru reportedly recorded rapid sellouts for early shows, while ticket prices at some locations reached as high as Rs 2,500. Tamil Nadu bookings also witnessed strong demand after opening closer to the release date.
The Tamil version has contributed around Rs 10.17 crore, or nearly 96 per cent of the tracked pre-sales. The Telugu version has collected about Rs 42.21 lakh, while the Hindi version has made only a limited contribution. Standard 2D screenings account for almost the entire booking total.
Jana Nayagan was initially expected during the Pongal season but was delayed for nearly seven months amid certification hurdles and court proceedings. It later received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, clearing the way for its July release.
The project also faced concern after an alleged high-definition print surfaced online in April. The Madras High Court subsequently restrained unauthorised circulation of the leaked version ahead of the delayed theatrical launch.
Backed by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Narain and Nassar.
The film is widely expected to be Vijay’s final acting project as he shifts his attention to full-time politics, increasing interest around the release. With more premium cinemas and additional shows yet to open, advance sales could rise further before Thursday.
Strong early sales in Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru and Kerala have positioned Jana Nayagan for one of Tamil cinema’s biggest openings of 2026. Its final opening-day performance will depend on expanded show counts, ticket availability and last-minute demand.
