The trailer of Mahaprabhu Jagannath was unveiled in Cuttack, Odisha, during Pujya Shri Indresh Upadhyay Maharaj Ji’s ongoing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, in the presence of more than 10,000 devotees. The launch turned into a major devotional moment as the gathering responded with loud chants of Jai Jagannath after watching the trailer.
The makers said the event marked one of the biggest physical trailer launches for an Indian animation film. With a strong spiritual setting and a large public gathering, the trailer launch helped the film gain early attention among family audiences, devotees and viewers interested in mythology-based cinema.
Story focuses on faith and unity
Mahaprabhu Jagannath presents the story of Lord Vishnu’s incarnation as Jagannath to protect devotees and restore balance against evil forces. The trailer introduces the demon Aham, a symbol of arrogance, who gains great power after receiving a boon from Lord Brahma. After becoming nearly invincible, Aham begins spreading fear and destruction across humanity.
The film shows how Lord Vishnu takes the form of Jagannath to save his devotees and give hope to those praying for protection. The trailer highlights themes of devotion, unity, humility and the power of faith. Its animated format is aimed at making the story easier for children and younger audiences to understand while also connecting with older viewers who follow Lord Jagannath’s spiritual tradition.
Pan-India animated film set for release
Billed as a theatrical pan-India animated feature based on Lord Jagannath, the film is expected to bring a devotional story to the big screen with colourful visuals and a family-friendly presentation. The project also follows the success of the Jay Jagannath television series, which aired on Pogo in 2024.
Mahaprabhu Jagannath is produced by Durga Prasad Dalai under Ele Animations Pvt. Ltd. The film is directed by Shripad Warkhedkar, with screenplay and dialogues by Pallavi Sharma. Aviral Kumar has composed the music. The film is scheduled to release in theatres across India on July 10, 2026, in Hindi, Odia and Telugu.
