The nomination places Kalki 2898 AD in the spotlight alongside notable contenders such as Stree 2, L2: Empuraan, Maharaj, Meiyazhagan, and Superboys of Malegaon, showcasing a diverse range of Indian cinema.

Released in June 2024, Kalki 2898 AD quickly became a global sensation, grossing over Rs 600 crore worldwide despite receiving mixed reviews at its debut. The film, which captivated audiences with its futuristic storytelling and grand visual scale, stars an ensemble cast featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.
