F1 and Jurassic World Dominate Indian Box Office, Superman Struggles to Keep Up
While the Indian film industry has faced a lull this summer, Hollywood has dominated the domestic box office with multiple hits, with Brad Pitt's F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth leading the charge. Both films have crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark in India, a remarkable feat for Hollywood releases in recent years. Despite high expectations for DC's Superman, the film has underperformed in comparison to the Hollywood blockbusters.
F1, which released on June 27, has been an unexpected success, with glowing reviews from audiences and nearly a month of strong box office performance. The film continues to perform well, especially over the weekends, with many screens reporting houseful shows. Released on July 4, Jurassic World: Rebirth also had an impressive opening, benefiting from the established fan base of the dinosaur franchise. The film attracted families and nostalgic adults, joining the prestigious 100 crore club in India.
In contrast, Superman, which debuted on July 12, failed to create the same buzz. The film received a mixed reception and has earned around Rs. 55-60 crores in its first two weeks. With Marvel's Fantastic Four slated for release soon, it remains to be seen whether it will disrupt the dominance of F1 and Jurassic World at the Indian box office. The competition in the upcoming weeks will be crucial as Hollywood films continue to captivate Indian audiences.
