Fahadh Faasil Plans To Be An Uber Driver In Barcelona After Acting Retirement

In a world where film stars often showcase their luxurious lifestyles and digital presence, actor Fahadh Faasil continues to stand apart. Known for his privacy and simple living, Fahadh recently went viral for holding a basic keypad-based Vertu phone, which he calls his "dumb phone." In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor not only explained his preference for a social media-free life but also confirmed that he still intends to work as an Uber driver in Barcelona after retiring from acting.

Fahadh revealed, “I’ve been using a dumb phone for a year now. No internet, no WhatsApp. I’m not missing anything. I might be reachable only through email soon.” He explained that while he initially tried using social media, it didn’t feel authentic to him. “I didn’t know what to post or reply. It just wasn’t for me,” he said.

He further emphasized that fans will never find personal photos of him or his home online, adding that his updates were limited strictly to professional milestones in the past. Despite being disconnected from online platforms, Fahadh feels in tune with younger generations because of the quality films he continues to deliver. “The day I stop making good films, that’s when I’ll be truly disconnected from this generation,” he added.

What caught attention again was his 2020 statement about becoming an Uber driver in Barcelona. When asked if he still held onto that plan, Fahadh said, “Absolutely. We were in Barcelona a few months ago. It’s something I truly want to do once people are done with me.” He explained his fascination with the idea of driving someone to their destination—calling it a beautiful act of witnessing someone else’s journey. For Fahadh, it’s about more than just driving; it’s about engaging in small, meaningful moments and doing things he loves, whether it’s watching TV or playing sports.

On the professional front, Fahadh Faasil’s new film Maareesan hit theatres today. Directed by Sudheesh Sankar, the movie also stars Vadivelu in a lead role, adding another unique character to Fahadh’s already diverse filmography.

As Fahadh continues to make unconventional career choices both on and off screen, fans admire not only his acting prowess but also his commitment to living a grounded, purpose-driven life. Whether on a film set or behind the wheel of an Uber in Spain, it’s clear Fahadh Faasil values real experiences over virtual noise.
