Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is eager to launch his much-awaited film Spirit starring Prabhas, but the star’s demanding schedule is putting the brakes on the production. After the massive success of Animal in December 2023, many anticipated that Sandeep’s next directorial venture would start rolling by the end of 2024. However, as July 2025 draws to a close, the cameras have yet to roll. Sandeep recently revealed that shooting is now planned for September 2025 but whether that will happen remains uncertain.
The primary concern is Prabhas’ ongoing work on two big-ticket projects. One is Hanu Raghavapudi’s yet-to-be-titled historical fiction film, which is still deep in production. It is highly unlikely to wrap up before September, given its complex narrative and large-scale visuals. Simultaneously, Prabhas is also working on The Raja Saab, a romantic entertainer directed by Maruthi. That film still requires the completion of three songs and an action sequence, and it is aiming for a theatrical release on December 5, 2025.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga is known for his immersive and intense storytelling, and for Spirit, he expects complete dedication from Prabhas. The director has reportedly asked the star to commit bulk dates and focus exclusively on Spirit during the entire filming period. However, Prabhas is famously known for managing multiple projects at once, which makes such a commitment difficult.
This scheduling conflict creates uncertainty around the September start date. Unless Prabhas restructures his calendar and wraps up his existing commitments faster than expected, Spirit may face another delay.
